The Hosteller Bir - Backpacker Hostel in Bir, Chaugan - Kangra, India

We had originally planned to stay at The Hosteller Bir for 4 nights but ended up extending for 8 nights instead. The property, the sunsets, the music, the food and the dogs are simply amazing. Anything you need there is made easily available. Shoutout to the people managing the place, we had so much fun and you guys are the best!

So Bir was a complete surprise to us (we had only gone there for the paragliding, but the general vibe of the place is astonishing and a perfect getaway for either adventure, pleasure, food and drink or just simple lazing around), and The Hosteller @ Bir was an even bigger surprise. We generally are those who stay in hotels and resorts, but this time, we stayed in this unique hostel-like setting, which was a different experience and much more enriching. We met so many people from all walks of life and from various places... like-minded fellow travellers, exchanging notes of plans, "to-do lists" and "must-do activities"! We all mingled in the yard of the hostel with our own drinks, food and a bonfire that kept us warm through the chilly evening. Harry and the Hosteller team were playing some lovely catchy music that enhanced the ambience to no end. All of us humming and swaying rhythmically to the tunes. We retired earlier as we were too tired, but the partying went on a little past midnight, and we weren't disturbed in any way. I must say, this is a place that you must include in your itinerary. It's cost-effective, has a great ambience, and is well placed in the location where everything is a few meters away. Thanks 'The Hosterller' for the lovely time. We checked out from this Hosteller, but we will surely be checking into many more 'The Hostellers' at all the other locations.

My overall experience was amazing here , the staff was amazing , Harry the manager was a amazing person and very helpful. But the only thing i did not like was the old rooms and the washrooms , the amenities were not good . The geyser was so slow , the lights in the room was very less ,water kettle was dirty , e Although the evenings here were lively, the food was good . The staff was cooperative.

The host and other staffs are accomodating and friendly but as this is a really old property, the rooms are not well built and not very spacious, also there was a water problem in the washrooms, the location is quite convenient as it is just 100-150 mtr away from the bus stand. If you want to stay for a shorter duration (1-2 days) and just need a place to crash it's good but not suitable for longer stays/workcations.

I went there for a workation and I would not recommend anyone to choose this hostel if you are going for the same. There will be loud music all the time which will not allow you to do any work. I had to skip or postpone multiple meetings because of this. Other cons: * Facilities are very minimal like even basic ones are difficult to get. Getting water in the washroom was a challenge and on top of the staff there will not respond properly. * Kitchen is almost not available. Most of the times its closed. * There is no proper staff who is taking the resposibility. Some people like Harry and Raj were good but others were so rude. * No proper management. They changed my bed and room every day for a 4 day trip. It was so difficult. One day they just removed my items without even asking me or letting me know. * Doors of rooms/lockers are in worn out condition. Latches do not function. You cannnot lock your luggage. * Wifi stops intermittently so I had to use my own network all the time. * Staff themselves would make lots of noise, drinking, etc. all the time which will make your workation impossible. * Location is quite far from main landing site. Overall, there are no rules and no one is maintaining the property.

The hostel is located right near the bus stand and is easily accessible. The whole property is nice and spacious. Great for solo travelers. The hosts were nice and took care of everything. And the best part was the jamming and music session we had together with all the solo travelers in the evening. The vibes were lit and would recommend it to people.

I can confidently say that The Hosteller bir stands out as a true gem. The moment I stepped in, I was enveloped by a homely vibe that instantly made me feel at ease. But what truly blew me away was the delectable food they served. Each meal was a delightful journey of flavors, prepared with love and care. It's rare to find such a perfect combination of a warm atmosphere and outstanding cuisine. If you're seeking a place with a homely vibe and amazing food, The Hosteller bir is an absolute must-visit.

All 5 star. But take it in the context, thats it's some thing between a hostel and hotel. Location is 5 Star in absolute context. It's at the location where entire activity is. Now rooms, from the perspective of "value for money" of course its 5 star. But it would not be wise to compare it with a 5 star Hotel room. And people who are searching for The Hosteller they know what I mean. Similarly the services. They give you neat and clean room at the time of checking. Beyond that there is no service. But the same is as per contract. Hence as per me, with in it's category, it is 5 star in all three aspects. Staff was very friendly. Vibes are great. Bon Fire in night along with Music (You can bring your own booze and enjoy) . Delicious home made food you can order and they cook it fresh for you. Over all I had a great experience and would live there on my next trip too.
