I'm giving this hostel a bad review because they are *VERY* pushy to get you to leave a good review, both in person when you check out and afterwards by spamming your email 10+ times with emails that you can't unsubscribe from. I've seen other backpackers just give the hostel staff their phones to leave reviews after being hounded by them non stop to leave a good review, so I would take reviews of this place with a grain of salt. Actual accommodations were India standard. There are better places in town.
The senior manager of the property - Mr Mohan Singh was absolutely amazing and a fabulous guide and photographer for Taj. He knows every nook and corner of Taj for the best views and experience. He also arranged for an intimate boat ride for us over Yamuna river overlooking the Taj which made our journey all the more memorable. Absolutely recommend staying here for the proximity the ambience and the service of course.
I loved this place "The Hosteller Agra" which is BEST place for the Backpackers. I choose this place and it turned to be a good experience. It is near to Taj Mahal eastern gate. Rooms were good and people were very friendly. Mr. Raj and Manager were very helpful, soft spoken, and available every time. Kudos!!! to "The Hosteller Agra"
I loved the location and the cleanliness!! I would recommend this place 100%. However, although the owner was super nice, I felt like there was a conflict of interest because I asked his advice if I needed a guide for the Taj Mahal, and he offered to personally take me for a high price. I went with 3 other people I met that night at the hostel instead (the hostel is in walking distance so you can easily do this).
Great location with rooftop view of Taj Mahal. Room with AC was perfect. Some of the staff don't speak much English, but still service is great. I got help on where to get a new phone (finally bought it at Sadar Bazaar via credit card - thanks!)
Mohan in the reception was very helpful, but I myself like a window in my room, so in that respect it was quite basic. But the price is also basic:-) They have a nice roof terrace. It can be a little noisy near the terrace, so on weekends try to get a room on first floor.
Excellent hotel pour visiter le Taj Mahal situe a quelques minutes a pied. Excellent rapport qualite/prix. Les chambres sont biens mais certaines n'ont pas de fenetre. Le restaurant situe sur le rooftop est exceptionnel. Repas delicieux.
The hotel is only a walking distance from Taj Mahal. The staffs are very kind, and Mohan was such a wonderful person helping me with all the things that I needed! Will definitely stay at this hotel again if I come back to India!
