The Harrington Residency - Bed & breakfast in Kolkata - Kolkata, India

While planning our holiday to Kolkata, we decided to look for accommodation with a bit of historical flavour and character. We decided not to book a hotel room. The Harrington Residency is a large apartment in an old building on Ho Chi Minh Sarani at Kolkata. The premises combine an Art Gallery on one side with 3 guest rooms on the other. The rooms are very tastefully done up, very spacious and give one a very nice feel. There is a long verandah outside with sofa seating. They also have a small cafe / dining room. The only meal served is breakfast , which is quite good. Gopal and Diwakar take good care to give you the kind of food you want. At other meal times, one can order in and use the dining area to eat the meal. All employees are very friendly. A special mention to Surojit, who is on the evening night shift. Cheerful, friendly and always helpful. Definitely recommended and would not hesitate to book again. Location is very close to Park Street and most tourist areas.

A great place well located in the center of Kolkata with access to all the good places within walking distance. The enterance is abit old fashioned & looks like an office area. The only negative for me was the lift. If the doors were not shut properly or gets defective then there is a long walk up two floors. This happened to me once & there is no way to contact any staff upstairs. This should be looked at. The rooms itself are really nice & spacious. The staff are very friendly & the service was good. The breakfast is also really good with a chef present to cook up most breakfast dishes. Overall a good experience

Not a friendly place for senior citizens. My friend who is 84 had a huge trouble navigating steps inside the bedroom and bathroom and ultimately fell down. Service is otherwise good. Clean rooms and bathroom. Entrance to the place is pathetic. Pls do something. I thought I was entering a dungeon. However inside is okay and retains the old world charm of the Brit era.

Great rooms. Super clean with all amenities. Location is unbeatable. Many restaurants in close proximity. The balcony with the chairs is a bonus as is the art gallery. The only negative point could be the lack of a restaurant, but they have a dining area and they do provide an excellent breakfast with limited items but it's tasty and filling and non repetitive. Won't hesitate to book again.

Great Location if you want to just stay and attend Visa Interview as its right Opposite the Consulate. Most importantly the Hotel Staff was super helpful. There is no Reception desk or anything but still they provided very good service. Security at Night as well morning staff very polite and helpful. It was raining cats/dogs that night for me to go and order food from nearby hotel but security helped by providing a bigger Umbrella . He kept asking if I needed anything and asked to reach out for help. Morning Breakfast was fresh and being done there and was served. Place was also decent for Family. The disadvantage could be the location as its inside the Harrington Arts Center building with a small entrance to the side and Lift being very old model could make you think the place could be bad or so but it was not the case and it was better.

This Hotel transports you to the colonial era. Hats off to the owner who restored this old mansion into a lovely hotel! The rooms are big and spacious, the verandah is an added beauty to sip hot tea and enjoy rain during monsoon! The owner of this place, Mrs. Khullar is very hospitable and courteous! The attendants of the hotel are kind and would help you out for all your needs! I had a lovely stay here. It felt like a home away from home! I am glad i chose this place over any other for my two days stay!

The balcony mentioned is not a private balcony, it is open to the other guest of the Residency and others visiting the cafe. The walls between the rooms are not very sound proof, so the TV in an adjoining room can be heard easily.

Very nice this is the most incredible little place in Kolkata. Nestled in an old dilapidated building, it leads to literally a treasure. Staff too kind and professional, owner too sweet & welcoming, rooms too big & beautiful with a beautiful mix of old world charm with modern features, food and service excellent.
