The Door to Nirvana Hostel - Backpacker Hostel in Kotagiri - The Nilgiris, India

If I could rate this place higher than 5 stars, I would ! The rooms are well maintained and clean. The washrooms are sufficient as well. We loved the ginger chai and masala chai here, of which we had endless amounts. The view from the common area is breathtaking and honestly makes you want to move to the mountains. The hosts, Neha and Akhil, are some of the warmest people we have ever met. They were kind enough to provide us with everything we needed. And oh, Akhil personally hand fluffs the pillows while Neha makes some of the best cheesecake I've ever had. An unmissable experience :)

Amazing!! Just one word enough to describe it . Located at a beautiful serene and laid back location with a gorgeous view of a huge tea estate right in front . Dorms were spacious , both the 6 bed dorm and the 10bed dorm . Clean and neat washrooms with a shower cubicle. First time seeing such a well equipped washroom in a hostel . The view from the balcony is amazing . The place is constructed in a very entertaining manner . There are multiple levels . They have several socialising areas , a nicely designed patio to take photos , a dining area, and a separate space for the campfire. Shocking aspect was we were asked to place the order for dinner at 4.30pm and it was the last order . But good thing is they called us and informed us that we wouldn't get any dinner any where around the place and we had to let them know if we wanted dinner to be prepared at the hostel itself (even though we had not checked in nor had informed them about the time of our arrival ) Dinner and breakfast was satisfactory and nothing very great . But definitely tasty and filling .

Great rooms for a hostel and amazing view from the balcony Floor and room is made up of wood, so you will hear and get disturbed with people just walking around. Other than that nothing much to do around this area

My favourite hostel I have visited in India. and one of the best I've been to in the world. Beautiful location, really clean and a fabulous calm friendly atmosphere. 100% recommend.

The Door to Nirvana Hostel is a go to choice for me and my family. Djacko and Sjansa, two beautiful golden retrievers are always here to accompany the guests. It is a pet friendly hostel. The hosts, Akhil and Neha are very friendly and make sure all arrangements are done as per guest's requests. The beds are very comfortable and all necessary amenities are available. In addition, there's a table tennis table, billiards table and a foosball table for entertainment. The food is prepared on site, every meal be it breakfast, lunch, high tea or dinner is fresh and tastes very good. I would highly recommend anybody visiting Kotagiri to stop by and stay here for a day or two to relax.

I don't want to reveal this property at an offbeat place but at the same time, I want the travellers to experience this hidden gem! I am a solo traveller and have been travelling for a while now. 1. I got surprised when I saw slightly higher dorm prices. But trust me when I say this- It is worth EVERY PENNY!! 2. The property is a breathtaking beauty, meticulously maintained, and the food... oh, so delicious! Easily one of the best hostels I've ever had the pleasure of staying in. 3. Let's not forget the incredible hosts, Akhil and Neha, who showered me with their warmth and hospitality. And oh, the two adorable cuties, Jaco and Sjansa, added an extra touch of joy to my stay. PS: If you are travelling in a group or with family understand this is a 'hostel' not 'hotel'. Don't hijack the common space, Please try to make travellers inclusive and respect everyone's space. And ofcourse, handle this gem (property) with care!

The hostel are good. Location is even better. We stayed on Sunday night so crowd was almost none. Weekend will be crowded as we did not get the room.

Most beautiful hostel I have been to. Everyone is so nice. Nice hosts, great staff, cute dogs, lovely property. There is so much space to hangout and do your work. I wish I had spent a week here, I hope next time.
