The Crown Restaurant - European restaurant in Chennai - Chennai, India

We visited this place on a Sunday afternoon. Less crowd and the ambience was great and a peaceful environment. Better to book a table. Special mention about the magic show.On Sunday's they entertain the guests with magic show. We had briyani and it was delicious. Easily 2-3 ppl can have their one serving. Strawberry compote cake - mouth-watering. Overall experience was too good and enjoyed without much of crowd .

This was unexpected. We knew about Southern Aromas at The Residency Towers. And we wanted hot and spicy rasam for dinner. But when we reached the place, we found it had been replaced with a new avatar - a multicuisine restaurant called The Crown. One glance at the menu and we realised we weren't going to get what we were looking for. Even while the young trainee promised us that rasam was available. But rasam and Thai green curry don't exactly mix! We decided to stroll across to the buffet but then, the restaurant manager intervened. He said he would give us a bisibele baath, rice, rasam, a poriyal of peas, beans and cabbage, curd and papads. Perfect. Even though there was no mention of it on the menu. The promise was kept. The rasam was lukewarm but the poriyal and bisibele baath garnished generously with cashew nuts kind of made up. Pricey though. This was good for a one off experience and getting what we wanted. The multicuisine stuff is getting to be a bore. The safe but bland way to cater to every palate. So The Crown for a short evening, at one table served the natives. And that was worth the price.

What I see is that the food is not consistent - when I went for dinner, food was very average but when I went for lunch this week, it was much better. The staff don't come across very friendly though but the chicken curry with cashew paste was really good!

Me and my family enjoyed the best starters, mutton briynai, and fish curry. Highly recommended.. eminence is so nice. Nu-i, Arun, Narming, very helpful and made as feel very comfortable and feel at home.. 2 thumbs-up

The experience was amazing especially when we were celebrating a special occasion here.

The menu was limited but the biryani was really great and beef was also available. All The dishes were good.

We were fortunate to celebrate a special birthday dinner for four recently. Very nice, on the water, pleasant ambiance. Wonderful service, most attentive, friendly and helpful. We enjoyed cocktails, brought our own wine and paid corkage, enjoyed delicious crab cake appetizers, split salads and each ordered an entree.

Came here to celebrate Christmas. Unfortunately, today's dish variety was poorer than usual. Most of the dishes were a tad bland as well. Loved the fried calamari though.
