The Bohemian Masala, Varkala - Resort hotel in Varkala - Thiruvananthapuram, India

Perfect place to stay for nature lovers. Rooms are traditional. Clean and neat rooms and environment. Chemical free swimming pool i really enjoyed. Very friendly staffs. 5 mins walkable distance to Varkala beach. 15 mins from Varkala railway station.

I had an amazing stay at this place. I will surely book this same place if I ever travel to Varkala again. Highly recommended for all. Pros: +Just 2 minutes walk from the beach +Excellent rooms prepared with mud. They are beautifully decorated. The ambiance was very romantic (I was travelling alone though). +Very polite manager and friendly staff. +Quiet and secluded setting. Perfect for couples. +The manager and staff went out of the way and had packed breakfast ready at 4.30am for me since i left in early morning. The breakfast included veg sandwich, boiled eggs and almost a litre of fruit juice! +Good sitting area just outside the rooms. +Good secure parking for 1-2 cars inside and for many more outside. +They gave welcome drinks to me as well as to my visiting friend at arrival. The juice for my friend was served to her right in the car parked outside. I absolutely recommend this place for all tourists. +I got this hotel at a great price. So when I arrived, this place absolutely exceeded all my expectations. Cons: -Could not connect to the wifi. The connection was stuck at "obtaining IP address". Tried with laptop and 2 phones, but no luck. -I could not control the temperature with the remote. Could either switch it on or off. Since it was too late in the night, I could not ask anyone for the same. -The outside area should have more lighting, It was very dark and I needed my phone flashlight to walk in the common area. -The road to the beach is dark and very deserted. The particular day i was there, it was rainy and the walk back to this hotel was very scary in the night. But this has nothing to be blamed to the hotel.

This is a tribal resort . Most of the furniture is natural or almost natural. The staff speaks Hindi as well. Very cordial staff. Had good breakfast here. They arrange of autos or taxis on request. The varkala cliff is a 10 min walk from the resort. There is no hot water in the room. Only on request do they provide the same.

Restaurant was not available. card swipe machine was compliant when trying for the payment. the reception didn't have the balance amount to pay, we had to wait until he returned with the balance from some other places.

Had a good stay !! Place is great but no hot water facility in the cottage but if you call then they will provide in a bucket. Restaurant has limited menue . Service is great and friendly.No ocean view from this place which is the only drawback.

Very tribal feel.. And very silent. The mud huts are cozy enough. They do not provide a variety in food choices though.

If ever in Varkala, stay in Bohemian Masala Resort! Super super authentic huts. Extremely helpfull people and very close to various good vegan restaurants!!

A different place and feel. Good for one time stay. Beware of mosquitoes though.
