The Birdhouse Hostel - Backpacker Hostel in Coonoor - The Nilgiris, India

This hostel has amazing sunset views from its garden area. The property could be maintained in a better way. The rooms are dark and congested. When there are 10 people in the property, the common area gets very congested. They have night outs in the garden sometimes, so if you are a party person, this place is for you. If you are a peace lover, there is hardly any peace there when people are around because there's loud music and booze. While sleeping as well, there is a lot of disturbance, so if you want to get 4-5 hours of sleep at night, and if you are a light sleeper then it's not possible as there will be a lot of disturbance - people don't follow dorm rules and there is a lot of noise due to the night outs in the common area. The property is beautiful though. It's not just for peace lovers.

Prajwal who runs the place is a great guy. Rhe hostel was cleanly maintained except for the dirty shower screen. Healthy food was available at reasonable price for Supper. Lot of comfortable work & leisure tables outside. The pressure in shower tap wasn't there. That plumbing issue can be resolved. Overall a great place and will visit again

I loved my stay over here. It's a very cozy old house which has been remodelled. The property is clean and maintained really well and feels like home. The host Aparna was friendly, welcoming and makes us feel at home. One can relax on the lawn all day. The Auto charges about Rs. 150 - Rs. 200 to get to this place from the Coonoor bus stand or railway station but it is worth it. The female dorm is a bit small in size but it's not a negative as you'll mostly spend your time outside roaming or on the lawn.

There are few places that you long to visit again and again; as if once is never enough. Destinations might as well make us feel that way, but I haven't experienced a hostel/hotel to give me that feeling. Birdhouse is that place. The place is aesthetic, sceneic, absolutely breathtaking at night, and very well maintained. Full props to Priyansha for making us all feel at home, her jovial and warm persona just makes you fit right in. I know where I'm going for my next staycation.

Its one of the bestest hostel i ever stayed, location is beautiful and quite. It gives you a surreal experience, in one word its worth staying here

The Birdhouse is an amazing hostel - one of the best I've been. Especially being in Coonoor and the only hostel over there. For me it was perfect - calm - soothing - pet friendly - and sunset view from hostel . Try it once and you'll keep extending or for sure come back. I love every person from owner of the place - Prajwal & Vidhya, Lilly aunty and every person associated with this place and 2 to welcome you and give you company - Maya & Logan. Beautiful place.
