The Bangala - Hotel in Karaikudi - Sivaganga, India

Great food - Tamil thali is about 1200 per person (veg). Never tried anything else! Start to finish great meal experience. The place has sufficient parking and clean washrooms.

Some places amaze you with their entire vibe, and I will say that for The Bangala. Everything about this place is wholesome, beautiful, and aesthetic. The interiors, the dining hall, the pool, the lobby area, everything is just so beautiful and cared for. The same can be said for their hospitality. The food served here is right for the Gods, and they serve it with so much love. They do not boast of a very long menu but the fixed menu that they offer is just soul soothing. Even though, I wasn't hungry, I ate all the food here just for the superb taste and the love with which they served. I am coming back again as my heart still craves more of this slice of heaven.

This is a beautiful place to come and stay. Steeped in traditional architecture yet with all modern amenities. The place is absolutely peaceful and relaxing. Would highly recommend eating atleast one meal here as their chettinad food is simply outstanding. I have never eaten food like this and they serve it with so much love and care.

We drove in just for lunch and the spread was good but a bit expensive (lunch for 2 was 2700+). The area is open and has some really good colorful pots and ceramics work on display. The staff was very friendly and the overall experience was good.

Overall a nice resort for a 3 day getaway. Loved the traditional ambience of the place. It is a large home converted into a resort. They have all modern aminities nestled in a traditional environment.

Don't get carried away by their publicity. It's a small property and service persons will dress in dhoti and shirt that's all. The food taste is average, actually karakudi food taste is unique and it will be very tasty. The stay is very expensive and it is not justifiable for the facilities available in the Bangala. They are charging Rs 1800 for lunch and Rs 1400 for dinner. They have a fixed menu (day wise) so you have to choose that. I'm a bit surprised by Zukini Bajji, I don't know when it was added in Karaikudi menu. There is no hot water in my room ( heritage block) and I booked a single room with a queen size cot but i got a twin sharing room. They said no other rooms are available, so I have been forced to use a single cot. Complementary water bottles are not available, they serve filter water. If you ask for water bottle instead of filter water it is chargeable. In my opinion, in the name of a heritage building, the stay and the food is too pricey and it is not justifiable.

This beautiful venue serves really tasty food and emanates with hospitality. The staff is attentive and helpful. Our lunch was served in a traditional way on a large banana leaf. Multiple small helpings of various dishes and rice were placed on the leaf. The fish was the best I had in India. Perfect yogurt and cucumber salad. Good chicken. And so much more. The immediate surroundings of the restaurant also beautiful. Recommended!
