Thattekad bird Sanctuary condenses an incredible amount of beauty and diversity. In the homestay of mr. Vinod and his family you will find calm, peace, delicious meals, the pleasure to watch the time go by looking at the lake, the visit of curious animals in the doorstep, trees and, garden, the sounds at night that made me sleep like I hadn't in ages. A little haven, where I felt very very well and where I hope I will have the opportunity to go back to. Mr. Kannan took me to watch birds early in the morning and it was awesome, a lot of endemic or endangered species he was able to spot, by sight or song, effortlessly, where my eyes would have seen nothing, including two nests with frog mouthed extraordinary birds. For me, being there was one of the most beautiful moments in Kerala, so thanks again to all the family

Vinod and Family were very courteous and made sure the stay was comfortable. I really appreciated the clean rooms, early breakfasts, random tea/coffees and scrumptious regional food. The stay is walkable distance from the sanctuary and I got the Malabar hornbills, Nightjar and Indian pita near the homestay. Vinod is a very knowledgeable birder and can help you with your tours.

This is my second time i am staying here, and we got the same amazing hospitality as last time . The first time , my whole family came here and had fun. This time me and my beother alone came and did some serious birding with vinod. Highly recommend vinod if you are serious or any level of birding . Vinod has exceptional knowledge about birds, and he totally understands the guests and delivers as much as possible . He is a very hard worker, not just him but his wife and family, and all of them are very hardworkers. you never get the five-star treatment, even in five-star hotels. we had so much fun on this trip and saw plenty of birds and got plenty of opportunities for amazing photography.Highly recommend it, and I will be back ... Oh, Iast but not least , the food is one of the best homemade foods... so delicious with plenty of variety every serving...I can't even imagine how they manage everything ...

Amazing experience. The place is away from hustle of city life, located right on the lap of nature. We have spotted few endemic bird species in and around the place. Hospitality and food is too good, rooms were neatly maintained. Our sincere thanks to Mr Vinod for everything.

Great place to stay if you are in the area to watch birds and wildlife. Vinod Ji, (the host) is an excellent and professional registered guide. He helped us finding all our target birds and also does night bird watching ! The room is confortable (very clean, A/C, fan equipped and quiet) with a terrace. Just few steps away from the guesthouse, we saw plenty of giant squirrels and numerous birds. The food was also very tasty and we had different variety of food items each meal.

Very tranquil place just inside the bird sanctuary. Room was spotlessly clean and the family provide delicious homely food. Besides all the amazing birds and squirrels, a spotted deer wandered within 6 meters of me as I sat on the front verandah. Vinu proved himself to be an excellent guide and spotter during our exploration of different areas in the sanctuary.

Loved the hospitality and home stay with vinod. The entire family specially the lady of the house needs to be recognized for the excellent home food.Vinod is extremely passionate and is a great host. He can keep you busy from 6.30 AM to 11 PM with in between meals and a night walk. Highly recommend for serious birders. A clean, well-located and comfortable homestay in the lap of nature with easy access to the sanctuary. Highly recommended for serious bird-watching. Host Vinod Narayanan is an excellent and experienced guide. He knows all the target species of birds in the sanctuary and is a storehouse of information on their movements, habit and habitat. He's also quite ethical, taking care not to disturb birds and wildlife while ensuring that guests get a good chance to observe them. His wife prepares delicious home-cooked meals. Birding around the homestay is itself very fulfilling. Butterfly enthusiasts will also find a lot of opportunities to observe and photograph beautiful butterflies.
