We were a bit apprehensive about travelling into the desert overnight with our children, but Salim and Abdul made us feel at home. The food was freshly cooked and with our children in mind: our pickiest child actually asked for seconds! Our overnight train arrived from Jodhpur at the horrible time of 3:30am but Kamal checked the schedule and picked us up from the station- he even provided a free hotel for us to rest in and store our luggage until our tour began at 1:30pm, despite arriving in the middle of Diwali. Actually, everyone associated with the tour was helpful. They arranged a private tour for us so our we could experience the desert with our children. They arranged accommodation after the tour within our budget. They even arranged fireworks and sweets so our children could celebrate Diwali! We would definitely recommend this company as trustworthy and reliable and will be booking with them again next time we come to Jaisalmer!

Had 2 nights in dessert. It was wonderful! As a female solo traveler I felt very save with my guide Salim. Also I loved my camel Jimmy. Got the feeling they take good care of the camels. They unsaddle them for every break, let them eat from the plantation. It was also fun to see the camels having a roll and good scratch in the bushes :-)

What a great 3 days we have had with this tour. They took us out for two nights , cooking dinner and sitting around the fire. The guides Abdullah and Salim are so funny and took great care of us , showing us their villages. I couldn't recommend the tour enough

Such a special trip!! Very professionally organised with great attention to detail. As two women, we not only felt in very safe and capable hands but absolutely treasured the company found in Abdullah and his team. Simple but warming, tasty and fresh food (made over fire) and rolling sand dunes, and a magical night sleeping out under the stars - what more could you want!

We used Thar Desert Tours for a 1-day desert sunset tour. We had 2 camel rides (1 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon), had a delicious lunch cooked by Salim and Moybai who were the camel drivers and enjoyed a beautiful sunset. The camels seemed very well treated and looked after. It was a magical experience and Kamel, the owner, did everything we asked and was the perfect host. Recommend using them as they will modify their tour to suit your needs, they're very accommodating. Nice family run business.

What an exciting and amazing experience sleeping at night in the middle of the dunes, above expectations and outside all the turistico areas surrounded by marketing. Choosing Kamal, a desert guy who knows exactly what he is doing and how to bring us something to remember forever. Also Salim and Moiba, the desert guys who showed us their village in the middle of nowhere and then cooked an authentic dinner under the stars. The experience just started, we were alone in the dunes, we could enjoy a fantastic night under the stars and among the animals like foxes and dears, we were super lucky to be super close to them! After the night, by the way, it rained and they prepared a tent for us. We saw the sunrise appearing in the middle of the clouds and the dunes. Great area surrounded by dunes and the desert guys told us that this area was reserved to this tour only, so we chose good. I live with a piece of heart broken and left in this region, which I will remember for sure in the future and will keep in my memories.

Kamal organized a FANTASTIC day trip off the beaten path from Jaisalmer. We were skeptical at first about whether it really would be non-touristy but the tour exceeded our expectations. We were picked up at the fort gates, taken to our jeep and then driven into the desert. We then had almost a 3-hour camel ride with our camel handlers Lukhia and Gumber. They were so friendly and caring. They often asked us if we were happy and enjoying ourselves and you could feel like they really cared. They also cared for their camels very well and made sure they were fed and watered. When we stopped for lunch, we had a lovely spot in the middle of the desert with a huge tree for shade and mattresses to relax on. We were cooked DELICIOUS fresh, vegetarian food and masala chai. Lukhia is an AMAZING cook. Our Jeep Safari driver, Suliem, joined us for lunch and then took us on a crazy and super fun adventure through the dunes where we also saw the "touristy" spots. Even with a flat tire, Suliem was quick to make sure we were comfortable. After the 1 hour Jeep Safari, we had another short camel ride to our own private dunes where we had more tea, a beautiful sunset and then a wonderful dinner! We got to chat with Lukhia and our driver, Kabir about village life and sit around a campfire with both of them. We were driven back to the fort and greeted by Kamal with hot water for our shower. We 100000%% recommend Kamal and his employees for a wonderful trip in the Thar Desert, whether for a day or a few days! Definitely reach out to Kamal for a fantastic trip!!!

Wonderful two night, three day desert camel safari. We slept out under the stars on epic sand dunes and the camel handlers cooked us delicious vegetarian meals three times per day. It was one person, one camel with very well cared for camels and we were in a small group - three people (me, my wife and one other) and two camel handlers. The desert was very quiet and secluded. Thar Desert Tours is a small, family run business and employs local camel handlers from nearby villages. Mr Kamal, the owner, went out of his way to help us, and provided secure luggage storage during the tour and a free shower after. This was such a memorable experience, I will be telling all my friends about it!
