Highly underrated, no real intent to showcase our culture . There are a lot of things which showcase our culture like musical instruments, script, pots utensils , war equipments,art,British details etc.. kids need to know this to understand history of cholas.maratas. Please advertise our rich culture.

Old Collector office converted to museum. Entrance fees Rs20. For 1 St floor Curl steps attractive. Can see cultural and Sculptures of chola kingdom.

This is a new museum in Thanjavur. They are still in process of setting it up, so check out for updated detsils. Currently they have put in some old artifacts, statues, musical instruments and cultural items (fabrics, tools, daily use items) from the surrounding region. We felt it incomplete due to very few items in it. If you have time crunch, you can skip it.

This new museum has come up in the old collectorate building. Collections are not up to the standards of collection that's there in Palace museum. This one has more dioramas, little bronze sculptures that are mostly of Nayaks and Maratha Period. While curating, they've not considered giving space to 8th century sculptures that are kept in the lawn at the front. Just kept on exaggerating the Cholas. Nothing serious about Thanjavur's history. Poor curation. Average Collection. Expensive souvenir shop.

Thanajavur Museum is actually a old collector Office building turned into muaem for public to to witness the beauty of architectural building and understand chola dynasty history in the form of art works sculptures, articrafts etc. To attrract children now recently children traim facility is introduced. Bird park 7D theatre are worth its amount. Visit during daytime with children and have a nice time with family and friends here. Entry Fee: Indian Rupee 20 and 10 are ticket price for adult and children respectively.

This place is legit, well maintained Gallery and arts. Place is well maintained. Toy train ride is still available and there is a 7D theatre and left corner. Must visit place to know the history of Thanjavur and Cholas! Ventilation is little bad some place are hot inside the room.

One of the best places in Tanjore to visualise the heritage of Tamil culture. The place is well maintained and they have preserved lots of status and articles used . The building is itself a great thing to view . You have a wide parking area . The place is well lit and kids can enjoy a lot
