Thanjavur Maratha Palace - Historical landmark in Thanjavur - Thanjavur, India

One of the famous palace in Tamilnadu. Located at very near Thanjavur Old bus stand (Walkable distance only). Best place to bring the children. Because they can know about history. Here, you can see the ancient sculptures, Paintings, Ancient Weapons etc. Frequent Town buses available to reach old bus stand from New Bus Stand and Railway Station.

Entry fees . You can get the ticket at the counter in the entrance and check the timings to avoid going by the lunch time as the counter will be closed for a short period . Cars are allowed inside and parking available In one area you can cover 3- 4 places . you can visit darbar, Saraswati mahal library - photo not allowed . Maratha palace - Photo allowed and must visit for the art and architecture. Bell tower - please avoid going there . Not allowed and it is not maintained. This Thanjavur Maratha palace is nice one with good museum and library. Very good and nicely sculptured Nataraja and Parvati idols from 10-13 th centuries could be seen. In main hall, beautiful ancient painting work attracts and catchy. Very nicely preserved palace properties could be seen here. How man's face evolved from different animal faces painting work is so splendid.

Must watch Palace in Thanjavur. There are around 4 things to watch inside and separate tickets for each. We're able to see 3 items: Durbar hall (must watch), Outside of a library and a video show related to it, where highlights and history of Thanjavur is show (must watch), Bell palace (was closed). There is a queue to get tickets and a delay is there.

A must to see & revisit the history of Great Maratha dynasty of stepbrother of Shivaji maharaj Vyankoji Bhosale while in Thanjavur.

They are collecting entry fees and not at all maintained the place. There was full of waste products lying over there and we can see in many places of wall people have written their names and spoiled. Should have maintained properly.

Built by the Maratha kings, this is one of the historical attractions of Thanjavur. Entry fee is Rs.50/- per person. However, this very interesting place with beautiful artefacts and statues is poorly maintained and is in a dilapidated conditions.

Whole place is in utter neglect. The durbar has not been swept in months if not years. There are no security to monitor people scratching up the pillars etc. Trash everywhere. Cobwebs decorate the ceilings and corners. Even the art gallery is so boring displayed in badly made wooden shelves etc. It's obvious they don't know the value of what they have.
