Tera Fort, is a standing example of the rich heritage preserved in Gujarat. Nurturing the five hundred years old legacy, it keeps you in awe with the ingenious engineering, architecture, and culture of the village.
Positioned at the confluence of three manmade lakes, Tera is a heritage hamlet in the remote Abdasa Taluka of Kutch District.
The three interlinked lakes are an example of the traditional knowledge of water management preserved and practiced by the people.
A lake beside to swim. Apart that you are not allowed to enter the fort. It's forbidden now!
The fort has a great heritage and story behind it, with many movies also being shot here. currently not available to general public but is great attractions for tourists. there is also a Jain temple and many shopping shops for modal silk and bandhani prints and ajrak prints. Soneji handicrafts n=being the best one of them
Tera Fort is one of the many forts situated in southwestern Kutch near the village of Tera.
Located 85 kilometres west of Bhuj. It dominates the plains of Kutch from its position on the banks of Three lakes - Chattasar, Sumerasar and Chatasar.
Tera Fort was built by one of the Jadeja Chiefs, who was given the estate of Tera during the reign of Deshalji I (1718-1741).
The fort is in ruins and mostly closed. I have visited thrice but could not get an entry. However the village has other attractions. There are 2-3 shops that sell authentic Kutch fabrics at great prices. Another beautiful attraction of this place is the Teen Talaab: three connected ponds regulating water amongst themselves with the help of Dams and drainage. Great piece of Architecture.
The place is recognised as world heritage by state government. Many heritage places to visit in one village.
Jain mandir, Darabar gadh, Selor vav, Lake.
Do note that Darabar gadh could be not open for all.
Its never open. And inside people are cultivating crops and raising livestock. But the fort has withstood 2 earthquakes and has suffered very less damage. Thus the outside wall is still something to look at. It is situated in a heritage village, with many of original handcraft artisans and jewellery makers.
Place is heaven for the photography , nature and heritage lowers . Plase is old but still in good condition . There are three beautiful lakes vary near to the fort . You need day long time to cover the village .
