Temples on Hemakuta Hill - Featured Reviews (135)
A lot of temple ruins on the Hemakuta Hill - this is the gist of this place.
There are a lot of rock boulders on the hill and the temples are scattered all over them.
The top of the hill offers a beautiful view of the Hampi town. It is a sight to behold in the evening during sunset.
If you are planning a trip to Hampi, this one deserves a place in your itinerary. It's right next to the virupaksha temple.
Hemkuta Hill is a beautiful hill besides another hilltop Matanga. Both the hills offer Sunrise and sunset provided a clear sky. Hemkuta has many small scattered temples, with similar style and architect. While descending this hill, the mighty Virupaksha temple with Pampa Devi temple and Manmatha tank are awaiting for visitors. Hemkuta is guarded by big group of apes, and thus it has at least 3 Hanuman temples here. Visitors are humbly requested to not to disturb or intimidate or offer foods to them, the consequences may be injurious.
It's a small hill with cluster of as many as 20 temples . This hill has the monolithic ganesha temple on the side that faces the road and have virupaksha temple view on the opposite side. The topmost extreme end of this hill has a two story mandapa which is good pictursitic point. Even thou matunga sunset view can substituted by any view but those who can't trek that high can have sunset from here. You can enter from the way thats just in front of virupaksha temple as well one on the road . The peculiarity is the temples have pyramidal type garbagrihas .
Must visit to witness sunset
I will recommend go 1hour before Sun Set time
Awesome place has small small monuments around hill. Unique was Stone build 2 storied building. 2 Entrance either from Virupaksha temple which is bit climbing or Sasivekalu Ganesha side which is bit easy.
One can easily spent 1 hour on this just by watching surrounding and Tungbhadra River
This is also a place where people come for sunset , again lot of temple and amazing view, the place is hidden and the more you explore the less you come close to the treasure it is like labyrinth, the more you get involved the more you need or desire to look for. carry lots of water and sunscreen or umbrella.
Hemakoota temples is also one of he ruins left in Hampi.. with a lot of temples and a sunset point you will love to be there.. it gives you a glimpse of the entire town.. you can also see the Ugra Narasimha from top of the hill.
A group of many small temples with intricate architecture. The hill also offers a very good view of the setting sun. With nice breeze blowing and lot of places to sit and enjoy the view, I loved watching the sunset from here more than from atop the Mathanga hill.
Temple with vibes. Hampi's main temple. Best time to visit is early morning or evening time you can enjoy. Noon it will be too hot. Hire a guide to explore each and every sculpture of this temple. Parking is available around 500m away. You can click

Great temple. I bought special darshna tickets for it otherwise you may not even see inside if the place is crowded.
We did feed fishes as well in the pond there.
The host is kind and welcoming. Food was freshly made, tasty and served on time. Rooms are clean and comfortable with AC and hot water. Overall Vinayaka Homestay was a good place to stay over.
Had a peaceful stay here at Lotus Riya. Our spacious room was clean with a very comfortable bed. The whole family are so lovely and made us feel very welcome. They recommended their close friend Mr.Paul the rickshaw and tour guide, who was there for
