Temple of Ichai Ghosh ( Deul Mandir ) - Historical landmark in Gourangapur - Purba Bardhaman, India

This is a typical rekha deul structure named after ichai Ghosh, popular durga puja of garh jungle is just few km away,,, The temple is a good example of Bengali terracotta design, but due to lac of maintainrnce everything is getting ruined, only the preservation of monumennt bord of ASI is there in the temple premises but no bord to tell the history and significance of the place and the ancient temple, It should be there

Historic place. But not well maintained (as usual other places in west Bengal). Surroundings are very beautiful. But aesthetic value of the river Ajay decreased due to illegal "Bail khad" organised by local political goons.

Wonderful place for spending time. Mesmerising scenario, beautiful birds cheering, a historical high valuable Temple, finely maintained. It's located in east Burdwan dist, bank of Ajay River. It has a beautiful park, suitable for kid's and families. It has boating facilities, lining & for kid's there has a little toy train (deul station) in the park, also a car driving activity. Good for spending time with friends, family and picnic.

It's an ancient temple of Rarh Bengal almost 500 yrs old. Still possesses the glory of marvelous architecture of that time.

Th temple is located around Deul Park on the banks of the Ajoy River. The temple has an idol of the Hindu God, Lord Shiva. Th temple is estimated to be 800years old. one can enjoy the view, ancient architecture and the ambience. Visiting the temple does not require an entry fee and it remains open nearly all day long. Ichai Ghosh's temple is also popular by the name of Rahreshwar Shibtola.

Ichai Ghosh's Deul is another important place depicting Bengal's rich architectural heritage. This "rekha-deul" styled temple possess some terracotta designs. The temple as per ASI was built somewhere in 18th century for Goddess Bhagawati. Now a days one can see a huge Shivalinga(Lord Shiva's image) inside the temple. The temple is linked to Ichchai Ghosh, who was a notable figure in history of this part of Bengal. What to see : You can spend easily an hour or two here a) Studying the terracotta sculptured work of the Deul. b) Enjoying a cup of tea amidst the natural setting (outside protected premises) from nearby stalls, with locally made biscuits (viz Bashona biscuit or a sugar sprinkled puff). c)A short walk to nearby sandy banks of Ajay River (The famous Joydev Kenduli is on opposite bank). d)Deul park nearby (with entrance fee) is also a must visit for fun and frolic family outing. Afterwards an off road ride amidst the dense Shorea forest towards GarhJungle Goddess Ma Shyamrupa Temple is highly recommended. Things to remember: A)Avoid summers or very hot afternoons. B)Only a few (2 tea stalls and 3-4 roadside eateries) are available in this area. So carry adequate food and water with you. C) If you are driving by own watch out for GPS lags in navigation app.

Heritage site on the bank of river Ajay. The Shiva Temple made by Ichhai Ghosh is an attraction. Deul Ecological Park is other attraction. Nice road connectivity. Adventure lovers may choose alternative route through the jungle. Good scenic beauty and calm place. Good picnic spot. Interested people my spend couple of nights in the rest house inside the park.
