Telkupi Deul - Featured Reviews (44)
Telkupi is a submerged location of archaeological interest in Purulia district of West Bengal, India. The area, along with most of the temples situated there, was submerged in 1959 as a consequence to the construction of a dam across Damodar river at Panchet in Dhanbad district, then in Bihar. The place is very beautiful and perfect for one day trip. Small boats are available there to visit the whole area . The temple present in the middle of the water is also can be reached by boats...hotels are also there which provides dinner lunch snacks etc.
The actual place is far from madding crowed..also Goole can't locate it properly..but the place is beautiful. It is just opposite side of panchet dam.The deuls of Jain(The Temples) are beside the water.so it looks beautiful. You can visit there or to get any information contact Pihu tours and travels of Purulia.
Wonderful Place... I am impressed... A Beautiful historical Temple stand under the water.
Amazing place!! The speciality about the place is its peacefulness. The ancient terracotta works of the Deul are mesmerizing. You can take a boat and they will take you to the Deul. one must go before 4.30 p.m. else you won't get a boat. You can go by four wheeler or two wheeler. Its Lalpur ghat where you have to reach. It is 52km from Purulia town.
Nice historical place
It was a great history of Bengal. Capital of Shikhar dynasty was situated here. Now only 2 submerged temple can visible, out of hundreds.
Nice place.
Excellent piece of architecture but very neglected, no conservation.
