A calm and quiet place, a small barrage on Tarafeni river 5 kms from Belpahari town. Good place to rest for a while while touring Belpahari. Loved the place.
Tarafeni is very close to ghagra. It is about 7.8 km from Belpahari. The distance from Kol to Jhargram is 178 km by road. You can reach Jhargram in 4 hours by car from Kolkata via NH6 (Mumbai-Kolkata Highway). 37 km from Jhargram by road to Belpahari. You can reach Jhargram in 2 hours and 30 minutes by train. The distance from Kolkata to Jhargram by train is 154 km. The nearest airport is Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata, India, which is about 188km from Jhargram.
It is a small dam on Tarafeni river.. total 8 lock gates are stored small amount of water compare to maithon, massangore dam..I think it is a one time visit place.. though we visited in February, you can enjoy in rainy season.. near about 5km from belpahari..
A small dam , nothing special, you can skip it anytime.
This barrage is built by the Govt of West Bengal in the Tarafeni River. The barrage has swivel type gates for the water and in the dry season, the Tarafeni River doesn't get full dry due to this barrage. Tourists come here for a visit, but have nothing except the barrage.
Very nice place but I think it is better to come here during monsoon
Near about belpahari it's a river dam situated above tarafeni river. Right now very much less water is there. Total 8 lock gates are there in dam. Surroundings are very beautiful local people are bathing in river.
It was awesome experience at Tarafeni river barrage.
