Talberiya Dam - Tourist attraction in Rautara - Bankura, India

Talberiya Dam is a tourist attraction located in Rautara, West Bengal. A very peaceful place with exotic green scenery.This was a lake sorrounded by forest. I suggest you come here in the afternoon. One can also enjoy the boat riding here. Overall one can very much enjoy this lake. It's a nice relaxing experience that will leave feeling warm and fuzzy at it's end. It is a good picnic spot. There is no booking charges for picnic. Paid facilities are: Speed Boat, Hand Driven Boat. A small shop is also present here where one can buy biscuits, chocolates, packaged drinking water bottle etc etc. One can walk around the dam. Road condition is not good, especially for low ground clearance cars. But the journey is beautiful. A vast low lying area surrounded by natural sal forest have been utilized as water reservoir by making a barrier on the southern side. The rain water deposited here through the slopes of the hilly terrain are kept for channalising through small canals for harvesting during summer. But the beauty of the reservoir attracts, the serenity of the place touch the mind and the narrow road leading to the dam facinates the tourists. There is no place to stay here, but there are at least two resorts at Jhilimili (5 km. approx.) where one can easily stay. Sutan forest is also another tourist attraction nearby. No problem for parking here.
