Talaja Hill - Mountain peak in Talaja - Bhavnagar, India

@ talaja entrance from bhavnagar talaja highway, the jain derasar located upon hill of 300 steps. Very beautiful view & attractive murthi of jain tirthankaras.. On the way of hill, khodiyar ma temple & ancient caves to visit. After 300 steps, can go through more 150 steps to visit chomukhji derasar on higher pick area.

Talaja Hills The Talaja Caves are located in Bhavnagar district at Talaja. The rock cuts are carved out into deserted conical rocks. The rock cut group includes 30 caves among which about 15 are water tanks. The cave has unique architecture known as Ebhal Mandapa. The halls are plain. "On the facade there are chaitya windows with a broad bank below them." The chaitya and cells were carved during Buddhism influence in 2nd century BC. During the Kshatrapas' regime in 2nd CE Jainism emblems were carved on the cells and the halls. The caves were carved out before rock cut architecture begins in the Maharashtra. According to few Historians the date of caves cannot be traced out however some believe that carving started by the end of 1st century CE.

Talaja is located at 21.35degN 72.05degE.[2] It has an average elevation of 19 metres (62 feet). Talaja is located on national Highway No. 8 in between Bhavnagar (50 km) and Mahuva (40 km). It is a Tehsil place which encompasses Alang - one of the largest ship breaking yards at one of the places which has the highest tidal range in the world.

An archeological site, and having history for more than 400 years. It house two religious temples, one of Khodiyar Maa and second belongs to Swetambar Jain Community. It has a cave known as Abhal Madap which is so huge that a stone thrown from the open side won't reach the end.

Talaja caves on Hill are Good, In jain temple on Talaja Hill entry is ristricted only for Jain's. From outside Temple looks good with amazing architectural view. You can travel by GSRTC bus. Very close to bus stop.
