Earlier it was only famous hotel in that surrounding with better taste... Taste is average nowadays. Not upto the hype. Taste is not like before .. service should be improved. There are good restaurants opened nearby . Because of name it is running . Try nearby restaurants too. Located at sungam junction . That line is famous for biriyani shops
Taj biryani is located in a place called sungam, is one of the famous biryani shops in Pollachi. The shop is typically a hut house and is said to be running for more than 25 years. We tried their chicken biryani and chilli chicken, chilly chicken was good and soft but a little oily. their highly expected biryani was not upto the mark but was decent though. can be tried once!
Located on Valparai Main Road (Vedasandur Junction), around 15 km from Pollachi Town. Parking is possible only on the roadside. Seating area is quite conjusted and old (this famous hotel itself is a small shack), and dining in here is not recommended for families. Staff members were friendly and quick. Ordered the following - Chicken Biriyani - Served with gravy(kulambu) and raita, the biriyani was lightly spiced with good quantity and taste. Chicken pieces were adequate, but quality of the pieces were OK only. It tasted well with the gravy and raita(150 rupees for one). Chilly Chicken - Was served hot and fresh and while the quantity could have been a bit more, it was very tasty and is a good combination with the biriyani. Served with onions and a lemon wedge.(100 rupees). Overall, this famous biriyani hotel serves food with good quality and taste, though dine-in would not be always available (it gets crowded during peak hours). I would recommend this place for good biriyani, though parcel might be a better option.
Briyani tastes average, not spicy so it's like tomato rice with chicken / mutton pcs. 3 star because of the variety of side dishes. But a good option in that area

Taj Biriyani is defenitely not a must try item. Tried their mutton biriyani which didn't impress my taste buds, and their pepper fry which was just average. The place lacks cleanliness btw.
