T. N. Banerjee Ghat (60 meter), named after the Principal of Patna Medical College, is the Administrative Block of PMCH. It was the original site of 'Murad Kothi' of the 17th Century. In 1875, the Temple School of Medicine started functioning in Murad Kothi but was later dismantled and another building was erected. In 1903, the General Hospital of Bankipore was built. In 1925, 'Prince of Wales Medical College' was founded by amalgamating the infrastructure of Bankipore General Hospital, which is now popularly known as the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH).Later Indira Gandhi Institute of Cardiology (IGIC) has been carved out on the eastern boundary of PMCH.
