Surya Mandir(Sun Temple) - Hindu temple in Edalhatu - Ranchi, India

Very nice and peaceful! You could meditate or sit peacefully inside for a long time. The temple needs some maintenance work. There is plenty of space for parking. Food stalls for chaat, coconut water, ice cream and snacks are available.

The Surya Temple, which is constructed in the form of a big chariot with elegantly designed wheels seems to be pulled by seven naturalistic horses, is located on Ranchi-Tata Highway(NH-33) 40 km from Ranchi Town. The temple site is located on the hilly area which make it visible from far area.The Temple is surrounded by natural forests and hill. At the point of Garbha griha of temple, a dome shape is painted with Sun and while looking up it seems that natural sun is throwing light inside the temple. The temple also houses several other deities including Shiv, Parvati and Ganesha, Lord Bajrangbali. It is one of the famous tourist place in the Ranchi district. Few shops are located around the temple. The parking area is sufficient to accommodate large number of vehicles. The safety and security is one of the concerns for the tourist visiting this place. Although people visit this place all round the year but it has not yet attracted tourist from other states and provide employment to local people. To make it famous and employment generating tourist sites there should be tourist facilitation centre at the site, other attraction centre like sunset view point, resort, amusement park should be established along with laser show depicting history and religious stories related to God Sun in the evening. The increasing number of hotels within 1 km of temple has forced people to visit this site but this is only secondary purpose of people not primary. The entry is free. People visiting this place must not pollute this place by throwing garbages. Overall nice and memorable experience.

Absolute waste of time, energy and transportation. Don't go by the reviews. this temple doesn't have any prominence, not maintained well and nothing special to talk about.

The temple is not that big as it seems in the picture but the ambience is nice and peaceful, the structure of the temple is beautiful,its almost 1hr from the main city .

This place is very peaceful situated at a very isolated area filled with lot of greenery. This temple is build like a chariot with 7 horses. The horses are huge and big. Parking area is also available there is no charges for anything. Nearby you can find stalls for food.
