The Surat airport was developed by the Gujarat State Government in Surat. The regional airline Vayudoot and the Gujarat airways used to operate originally through this airport. These airlines later discontinued their operations. The airport was then transferred under the ownership of Airport Authority of India in the year 2003. The commercial airlines services again became operational through this airport in the year 2007. An Indian airline flight departing for Delhi was flagged off in the month of May the same year by the then Civil Aviation Minister Mr. Praful Patel. Till that time the airport was under major modernization and developmental activities taken up by Airport Authority of India. It was revamped by the authority for getting operational in the year 2007. Prior to that, the airport had witnessed a failure in this direction in the year 2004. In June 2004, the authority had failed to connect the city of Surat with Mumbai and Bhavnagar due to poor infrastructural facilities. After that Air Deccan used to operate through daily flights till June 2005. Surat airport is under continuous operations since 2007 through domestic flights to and from Surat to major Indian cities. Terminal1: Domestic Terminal - The domestic terminal of Surat Airport can accommodate total of 240 passengers at a time with 120 each at arrival and departure section. The new terminal building has been highly developed with modern facilities. The terminal has an adjoining 2250 meters long runway, with an airfield having night landing facilities. The terminal has CCTV camera surveillance, baggage carousel and X-ray machine for hand baggage. The terminal is expected to have an air bridges, escalators and elevators, and more number of seating lounges for the passengers in near future. Baggage Services: The Surat airport is equipped with latest and modern baggage handling facilities. It has a couple of baggage carousels at the arrival section and an X-ray machine for the hand baggage. Special care has been taken to ensure convenient and hassle free travel to the passengers. One can easily get trolleys and wheel chairs. Senior citizens can also expect to have a comfortable journey through the airport. Places to Shop and Eat: Passengers can have various options to dine and shop in transit. The airport has eating outlets and tea/ coffee counters for the passengers. Passengers can also have options for the shoppers. Duty Free Shopping: Passengers also have the option of duty free shopping facility at the airport premises. One can obtain articles of their choice at reasonable prices.

Mid sized airport with about 14-15 flights a day and international connection to Sharjah. The airport itself is under renovation and the sections being created are modern and spacious. As with many smaller / low traffic airports, the security processes can sometimes be bit less streamlined and repetitive. Have few shops and 1 restaurant ( all vegetarian options). Overall a good working airport. Nothing to complain about.

The airport is small for an international airport. I understand there are smaller international airports. It s under construction for expansion. I guess Ola & uber pool is available however getting a cab can be a challenging task. I was lucky, hence got one after 20 min of wait Departure gate can get overcrowded & will give railway station like feeling Food options are very limited The Geeta restaurant at departure has reasonably priced stuff

Surat international Airport is the one of airport near to all major industries from here all major cities have fly services. here no lounge try to bring personal food if your hungry here some food stalls available but cost is high. here hygiene is not upto mark. here some passanger split pan at all the walls of toilet.here only two departure gates available at first floor, security check at first floor.

Surat is an international airport, although it is, work is still ongoing to rennovate. Current airport is small and old. It is located bit out of the city. There is enough parking infront of the airport.

Till now some construction works are going on. But it does not break any rules at all. At gate to Jawans cheked id proof thoroughly. Then just a step in and different Air group with scanning machines. Accordingly after scanning many airport field staff are standing in que to help and guide the passengers. They guided me towards an empty counter. So I went there. Handed my luggage. And took the boarding. Pass. Then went to security check in. I have given every thing on tray e.g. blutooth, matellic articles, coins, mobile, belt, wrist watch etc. And then went to the lady constable waiting there. She checked with her instrument and allowed me in. So security check in complete! Then the clean excavator!! Vast corridors, the clean waiting lounge. Some coffee stalls and food stalls. Pass time is fun actually. The executive behaviour of the staff, the systematicness, the cleanliness... Overall they deserve more stars but here i have only five star option. Thank You Surat!!
