Sundarban Jungle Mahal Resort - Resort hotel in Dayapur - 24 Paraganas South, India

Our trip to the Magnificent Sunderbans was made memorable by our stay at this little paradise. The serene surroundings and the beautiful landscape will make you wish to stay here forever. Mind you, not just the picture perfect location but the sumptuous meals the home cooks offer you, will make your heart go 'ummmm'! The staff is hands-on, making sure you get whatever you need for a comfortable stay. Also, the extra little efforts they put for your entertainment with their charming folk songs and dance will win your heart. My family and I had a very comfortable stay here away from the chaos of the concrete jungle. Neat, peaceful, lush green surroundings.. an island in the lap of nature! Will surely visit here again.

Before I tell you about this place you must understand that you are coming to Sundarban, one of the most difficult places to live in the world. Here fresh water is a difficult commodity to purchase as this is a delta region where even 2000ft below you'll find salty water. Most of the resorts here use harvested rainwater (for bath, washing etc.) or purchase water (for cooking). Every resort here tries to make it easier for you and a lot of struggle goes into that. So I request you to not criticize mindlessly just because a little bit of discomfort was caused. These things happen and no one does that intentionally. Think of it as a rustic experience for the optimistic self in you. Management of Jungle Mahal Resort (aka Sundarban Chalo) have superbly arranged their facilities to provide you with the best possible experience with the limited resources that are available in this Sunderban island. Situated in Dayapur island, this resort has aesthetically designed hut-type rooms with 2 beds in each room and attached bath. We booked their packaged deal (2N3D) which was 5500 INR/pax all inclusive (pickup and drop from Kolkata, breakfast, lunch, snacks, dinner, boat tours). You can customise your plan which is just a call away. They provide local cuisine and can provide something you like upon request. Special thanks goes to the manager Mr. Sandeep Jana, who has helped us in every aspect during our stay. I would also like to thank Mr. Sudarshan who has assisted us during ferry rides, served food and helped us get accustomed with the place. I would also like to thank the owners of this place for planning everything meticulously. They have also planned to receive guests at their own ferry pad but due to tide conditions may not be possible always, therefore guests have to walk 5 mins from Dayapur ferry pad/ghat to the property. Some may consider this a hassle, but I think it's great to see the neighborhood and exchange a few words with the locals. Most recommended place at Sundarban!

Nice , cozy, and spacious huts,good simple homely lunch and dinner. Much appreciation for Mr. Ajoy and Shyam Sunder Ji for their service and the good food. The location is near to the local village and at walking distance from the local ferry point of Dayapur. The people are humble and friendly as well. Overall, it's a nice choice if you are planning for a trip to the Sunderbans.

The rooms were spacious, clean, and well-equipped with all the amenities one would need for a comfortable stay. The food served at the resort was delicious and always fresh. I particularly enjoyed the local cuisine, which was prepared with care and attention to detail.

Nice cozy place to spend your time peacefully. The staff takes good care of you. The rooms are village style on the outside, but inside they have most of the facilities provided by a hotel. The food was good, but on both days, almost same menu. The folk dance was pretty good and we enjoyed our time there. And they have their own cruise boat and they plan the trip well.

Fantastic place to stay if you're out for Sundarban trip. The location is in the middle of a remote village in one of the islands and yet manages to provide more than just basic amenities. They provide small huts with beds and attached bathrooms for a very reasonable price. Everything is extremely neat and clean. Host is a very nice person and the cooks are really good. I have nothing bad to say about this place. Do keep your expectations low, this ain't a 5-Star hotel.

The resort " Jungle Mahal" is located on this river island but the facilities at the resort are no less than any city hotels - big and spacious rooms, clean bathroom, hot water available, good food for all meals ( vegetarian options too). It was a great experience staying at Jungle Mahal. I will surely recommend it all who wish to visit Sundarbans.
