SUMITEL DARJEELING - Hotel in Darjeeling - Darjeeling, India

Rooms are good but difficult to find the hotel as it is in the small lane. But the building has 2 floor of shopping store. And rest 3 floor are hotel with restaurant. Restaurant is very good with Kanchanjung view.

The room and room services were nice. Well appreciated the services provided by Dikila, Raksha and Dipen But the rooms doesn't have any view and the hotel doesn't have any relaxing ambience. Kanchanjangha view was pretty from the reception and the dining hall.

This place is not even worth a single star. Don't even book this hotel. It's not a hotel at all. It does not have proper access from the road. It's in a shopping complex. The rooms are claustrophobic. Cramped bathroom even without a screen. The bedsheets were not clean. The restaurant was the worst. They take their own time to serve except for the finger bowl which was served immediately. Do not book this hotel. If your travel agent books this please don't accept it. Thanks

Darjeeling - Sumitel Suites: This hotel is actually a part of mall by the same name. Its rooms, restaurant, lobby etc are spread across various floors of the mall. The Hotel is a simple, clean and well maintained hotel with a decent restaurant. The room provided had an excellent view of Mt. Kanchanjunga. Darjeeling city by itself was bit of a turn-off, possibly because we were coming from Pelling Sikkim which was gorgeous!. Darjeeling has narrow roads, excessive traffic, one way roads, haphazard construction and occasional piles of trash. The famous 'Toy train' was the biggest turn off for me. It was exhorbitant - Rs 1000 or 1500 per person depending on whether you choose Diesel or Steam engine. Frankly it doesn't matter. while inside the train you don't see the engine, and several trains travel together, so you can always take photos with steam engine of another train at the stops. Strongly recommend advance booking through IRCTC, else you may not get it at all - over the counter. The Train would surely have been excellent in olden days as it could travel along the mountain edges - BUT now there is rampant construction on either side of the railway track, so the Mountain/valley is hardly visible, there are shops almost touching the track. Sadly the Toy train experience has been reduced to a Kolkata Tram. Avoidable. We did not do the ropeway, possibly that may be better. The 'Tea garden' visit was just a 100 m walk on a trail littered with packets of eatables and some tourists taking photos in local costumes. For most other attractions, the parking is far off/ or have no parking, so one has to walk long distances - so not suitable for older parents. the attractions themselves are very good though, especially the Zoo and montaineering institute, tiger point.

The hotel was average , but the room which they provided was overpriced, Family room. The shower was leaking , water was not running properly. Everyday the breakfast was the same and the option was limited...not worth taking the breakfast inclusive plan. at the time of check we found that the room TV was not working and I was surprised to see that they also came to know this at that time...and the worst part every time asked for spa they denied as the therapist was busy.. they give in room food without plate , and when I asked to get the food reheated they denied saying that after 10 pm it is not possible.... the best gimmick was at the time of check out they told that we have broke the glass... I denied and they accepted but it was not as per the expectation.. in short not very good experience.

Awesome place to stay in Darjeeling. The hotel is very close to the Mall. The food as well as service are quite good. As we had to check out early, the hotel staff provided us the packed breakfast. Must stay place, once you are in Darjeeling.

Hotel was good but the staff were very rude they don't know how to talk with the customer especially the ladies in reception and in restaurant I will never go to this hotel worst experience and the staff should first learn how to treat the customer In politely manner..I hope manager will look into this
