One of Bombay's oldest churches/Cathedrals, that opened for service in 1718. Churchgate station is named after this church, as one of the gates to protect the then British settlement, led to this station. It was consecrated as a Cathedral in 1837 This Church was the city of Bombay's zero point, ie all distances in Bombay were measured from this Church. 16 such milestones were laid out towards the North of the city, 11 of which have been located & restored

It is one of the most peaceful places in the busy Mumbai City and for those who are searching for a place to listen to their inner voice, this is the one.

One of the beautiful church that I have come across. We were just talking walk around CST and happened to come across this while visiting nearby hotel. This church is over 300 years old, no extra structures are added, all are intact, well maintained and in its original form. It has also received urban heritage award. Church is built in 1718. I am happy that I visited here.

Beautiful, heritage place of worship,more than 300years old. People across communities,race,nationalities visit this peaceful House of God , spend a little time in quiet solitude, and go back to their everyday life.

It's a beautiful church of historical significance, it has a lot of extremely detailed and beautiful marble carved work, as well as stained glass windows. The place gives a feeling of peace and serenity

St. Thomas Cathedral is an Anglican Church built in British Empire era, first ever Anglican Church to be built in Mumbai and dedicated to the first apostle of India. The building is a mix of Neo-Classical and Gothic Revival styles. The latter only obvious from the high altar both in the interior and exterior by walking around to the back of the church, as it looks like there was some restoration worked with a different design from the nave up tot he high altar. The exterior is predominantly white with bands of yellow. Inside the church is well maintained and very Protestant, that is, there's not that much in the way of decorations. However, there are many bas relief sculptures of memorials and a few stained glass windows behind the high altar worth a look. The church is located in the historic area of Mumbai and there's many landmark buildings around the stars, so it's worth a detour.

One of oldest (if not oldest) churches in the city completed in 1718.Fascinating glimpse of a bygone era during the empire and stands as oldest British era building in the city. George V once attended a service here. Interested to read the colonial era memorials within the church.
