Such a calm and beautiful place . The space in this church is very large . There are 3 churches in the same compound with a large multipurpose hall . Even though it is close to the market their surroundings are really quiet.

This church was reconstructed and consecrated in 1887. This church is the fourth one in its place. One of the main attraction is the cathedral is ornamented with ancient Hindu temple carvings. * Calm and peaceful place. * 3 churches inside the compound. * We will get a serene feel when we enter into the church. * Have drinking water and toilet facilities. * Got enough parking space.

This church is one of the kind. It try to preserve the older church , it gives a wonderful traditional feeling and its very calm and peaceful. A wonderful auditorium also associated with this curch with two party halls with AC. Enough parking available.

St. Mary's Metropolitan Cathedral (Valiya palli) is situated in the heart of Changanacherry. More than 2000 families are under this church. St. Sebastian's feast (Makaram Thirunnal) of kochupalli is a very big celebration of Changanacherry. Daily there are minimum 3 Holy masses in the church. In Sunday there are 5 Holy masses. The church is of Syro Malabar Ryte. There are 7 small churches(kurishu palli) under Cathedral church. There also the devotees have the opportunity to participate in Holy Mass.

Came here as part of a routine visit to my father's ancestral home. The church reminds us of the ancient Indian construction style because of the temple style architecture. Marth Mariyam Metropolitan Cathedral, also known as Valiyapally, is the cathedral of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Archeparchy of Changanassery (Archieparchia Changanacherrensis) and also a Marian pilgrimage centre in Kerala. The local Christian community in and around Changanachery inherits its faith directly from St. Thomas the Apostle, who formed a Christian community of faithful, centered on Niranam in the 1st century. The first church in Changanachery was established in 1177. The plot of land for the church was donated by the local king of Thekkumkoor. The current church is the fourth one in its place. The church was reconstructed and consecrated in 1887.
