St. Mary's Forane Church Thankey - Catholic church in Thankey, Kadakkarappally - Alappuzha, India

Beautiful church dedicated to mother Mary. This place of worship is neat and clean. Inside the church there is statue of Jesus, which has bled before and has real hair growth from the head of the Jesus's statue. Outside the church there is adequate place to park cars and motorcycles.

Thankey Church is an important church in Kerala famous for miraculous statue of the Passion of Our Lord. The statue depicts Jesus in all his sufferings. His flowing hair, blood drying on his brows, pierced palms, feet and the side, the crown of thorns, all challenging a world of material glory.

Great place for religious visit.I went on April 7 and was really crowded by a lot of believers.

A miraculous church from the ancient ages. Have a statue of Christ which increases it's length by days along with the length of hair. This is a miracle and nobody knows where the statue is made. Have neat and cool atmosphere. A school and playground are associated with the church. Have ample parking space for large vehicles. But the roads to the church from main roads are really bad in condition. A must visit place to witness the amazing history and miracle about the church.

A peaceful serene place of worship. One hour drive from vytilla junction. Event though i used google maps, there are enough signboards to the church. A lot of parking space. Religious stalls, schools, chapel, adoration chapel, toilets etc are facilities available. Pidi ari nercha, is a famous nercha of this church. The statue of jesus who have died is the most famous of this church. Its believed that the hair of jesus grows by each year. And people throng from near and far to see this, especially on good fridays. We went the week after easter, and it was not at all crowded. After the church a visit to nearby beaches are also exciting.
