St. James Court Beach Resort in Pondicherry - Featured Reviews (3199)
Overall its a pleasant place to stay a couple days
What we liked:
The landscaping is great with a lot of spaces to hang around.
Beach view from balcony (if available) was nice
Breakfast - south indian was good
What we didn't like:
Rooms are relatively old and not properly maintained. Bathrooms are stained and not very clean.
Restaurant: poor
*space is less and overcrowded in the morning breakfast time
Very less restaurant staff even on a crowded holiday
Poor room service; numbers were unreachable and they didn't even provide water bottles even when asked.
Beach behind the property is not maintained/cleaned (public beach) and so this resort is not great if one is looking for a good beach experience.
I'm staying here for the second time since it was once good.
But recently the stay was really bad..
It wasn't worth for the price paid..
Rooms were big because of super deluxe but unclean curtains, dirty washroom lids, greenish color pool.. but they tried to provide good service.. the staffs were good.
Earlier the beach was like private beach but the recent movement of fishermen near to the beach, it's very dirty and unsafe..
I would say don't book for it unless you don't find any resort available near that area.
And the management should invest to renovate or try to maintain it clean.
Title: "A Disappointing Experience"
I recently visited this resort, checked for the hut stay,The huts were very bad ,There we 5 huts and had only two restrooms, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. The staff's behavior was far from welcoming, lacking the warmth one expects in the hospitality industry.
The overall atmosphere was tainted by a pervasive sense of indifference from the staff. It seemed like they had forgotten that customer satisfaction should be their top priority. A simple smile and courtesy can go a long way, but sadly, it was in short supply here.
The swimming pool, a potential highlight of any resort, was a letdown. Whether it was cleanliness or maintenance, the pool fell short of basic expectations. It's disheartening when a facility that should be a centerpiece of relaxation becomes a source of frustration.
Communication was another major issue. Clear and effective communication is crucial in any service industry, yet it was sorely lacking at this resort. Misinformation and a lack of transparency only added to the overall dissatisfaction.
I hope this review serves as constructive feedback for the management to address these issues. A commitment to improvement in customer service, facilities, and communication can turn this disappointing experience into a chance for the resort to shine.
The worst experience in this resort.
Few points( 2 night stay experience)
Good - Room are big .
Bad - first of all you won't get beach view from room.
They don't even provide towels. We requested like anything for towels.and we got the towels at night 11 . Pathetic service
The staff is not at all polite. They don't even welcome the guests.
Parking is bit far from Reception..here no body will come to give you service.
When we came for check-in we got the rooms after two hours checking time 12 noon as mentioned in the confirmation email but we got around 2 pm( reason cleaning was not done).
Restaurant staff is worst.
We requested to arrange table for 4 people. They directly told "NO" and told restaurant is about to close. This is around 9PM. Timing is till 11pm... But here we feel they don't want to take order they were not listening to us. They don't even clean the table after your bill...till morning 11 that table will be as it ..how one will feel to enjoy resort if such a garbage will be everywhere in garden.
And main thing is
This not only we experienced..we asked many guests they told same thing..same experience.
Except for the rooms there is nothing good about this place. Pathetic service, worst staff and horrible maintenance. We had booked 7 rooms but they were allocated to someone else due to a birthday party in the resort. They made us wait till 5 to give rooms telling cleaning is under progress. At last they gave us only 5 rooms and we had to adjust. The restaurant is another sad story. They take hours to serve food. Very very limited veg options and that is also served very late you have to keep reminding them. The so-called beach is accessible to everyone and is not clean. Not safe for kids as fishermen occupy it in the morning and all you can see everywhere is crabs and fishes. Very bad service for the price charged. They had done double booking and still had the audacity to lecture us about humanity and stuff.
Spacious property, close proximity to the beach are advantages. Food is average for vegetarians. May be good for non vegetarians. Room quality can surely improve a lot in terms of fittings, cleanliness and essential supplies like soaps and shampoos quality can be better. No hot water in super deluxe rooms and no exhaust.
If they improve all these, it could be value for money. As of now I would say it is not value for money. High priced.
This beautiful property is just abetting sea shore. Fisherfolks mend their nets and catamarans without getting distracted by guest strollers. Food is good. Swimming pool and children's play amenities add to the attraction. Flip side is that the regular maintenance is wanting. For example, it was difficult to open the sea facing balcony because of jammed door. Intercom line was silent as not alive ! Over all it is a good choice for family holidaying.
A perfect place for relaxation and enjoyment. Neat and well maintained ambience with all necessities. I will suggest this place for family gatherings functions and sudden freak out with friends. Food provided here especially it's a treat for non-vegetarians. Kids friendly environment with wonderful sea view. The manager and staff are very amicable. Worthy stay for the money we pay.

Budget friendly, best thing they refused tips,
Affordable and Pocket friendly Gym, apart from this it is a bit crowded between 6-8pm. The fees for General Training is Rs500-600 with admission fees of Rs300. Althpugh the trainer is quite suportive and well mannered .!
P.S. Has a decent crowd!!
The property is very near to the beach which has made our trip memorable. Stay in the property felt like staying in PY as a local resident. The concierge/owner overlooked the arrangements and was approachable. Thanks for making us "Feel Home" alike i
This hotel rooms and service is very affordable at this range. But the only drawback is that they don't have lift facility. And if you get a room in 2nd floor it's really hectic because the steps are also a little bit steep. Other wise their service
