Srinivasa Ramanujan Monument - Museum in Kumbakonam - Thanjavur, India

I got goosebumps visiting the house of India's greatest mathematician Mr.Srinivasa Ramanujan. He lived here most of his life and his journey of Mathematics started and ended here. After his time his wife lived at this place. You would literally get excited by entering the room where he slept and worked and looked out of the window. When I have visited place was under renovation.

(Visited in September 2023) - House of Srinivasa Ramanujan / Srinivasa Ramanujan Monument was once the house and ancestral place of Srinivasa Ramanujan, gifted mathematician. It is an honour and pleasure to visit the place.

Govt has shown keen interest in restoring the house of great scholar of Tamil Nadu. Even though importance is given to his birth place, tourist from other countries pay tribute to this great mathematician.

The internet said it opens at 9. We got there just before 10 am. But it was closed. We were really very disappointed having travelled all the way from Assam and Uttarakhand just to visit the home of my most respected mathematician. There was no one we could ask. We looked around and waited for about 10 minutes. Then we left. It is such a big pity! All temples were open much before. But this temple of learning was closed till 10 on a weekday morning... This shows our priorities.

A must visit place. You can see that it was a part of a nice Iyengar Agrahara in the past. Its a proud feeling that such a legend is from TN. Just nearby to the awesome Sarangapani temple. Very well maintained by Mr. Vasudevan who is a very enthusiastic person.

It was a great honour to visit the birthplace of one of the world's best mathematician. With just a metric qualification, this great man was appointed fellow of Royal college of society and Trinity college, London. The memorial is well maintained by Sastra university. There could be better information on the life stories of this legend. May be a 10-15mins AV show would be a great tribute to this India's pride

Memorial for a great mathematician hidden near a temple in Kumbakonam. Requires extra effort to find the place. Thanks to Sastra University which has created this memorial where Ramanujan once used to live.

Largely neglected place in this country except for Sastra college to have taken up this place and put some life to it.. they can appoint some maths enthusiasts to explain visitors about Srinivas Ramanujan and his work..
