The Pichadanar of this temple went to Ammaiyar house begged and got the Divine Mango from her. The yearly mango festival of this temple is very famous and celebrated in very grand manner.
This 1st visit of ours was quite a divine-full experience. especially while having a darshan of Pichandanar swami. Maybe I should come back for the Mangani (mango) festival.
Temple is properly maintained but the priests lock the gates and are nowhere to be found even during darshan time. But the environment is calming and peaceful. There are cows in the temple for which you can donate food/money for upkeep.

The temple plays important roll in the Karaikal ammayar festival every year. Temple is well maintained and clean. The shivalinga is huge and majestic. The temple tank opposite to the temple and between Karaikal ammayar temple and the Nithya kalyana Perumal temple is well maintained and a nice place to relax in the evenings. Though the temples are open from the morning and Gods can be viewed priests are available only after 9 AM.
