Vontimitta Kodandarama Swamy temple is located on the main highway of Tirupati Kadapa which was built by Chola and Vijayanagara Kings in the 16th Century. It is the largest temple in Kadapa with amazing architecture with huge sculptures. Darshanam was good, need not had to wait in the queue for long. Too many monkeys in and around the temple premises got to be careful. There are not many hotels nearby for stay there is only Haritha from AP tourism. Overall average hotel not maintained properly.

The Chola king Narasingha Raja Mudaliar started the construction of the temple in 10th AD. King Shri Krishna Dev Raya rebuilt the temple in the 15th century. Must Visit. Near Kadapa on the Highway to Tirupati. Had a very good darshan. Abhishekam is conducted every Saturday. Need to report by 5.30am, for that.
Wonderful temple, as per the temple priest this is a 2000 year old temple and the idols were worshipped by Jambavantha at his time. Must visit the temple.
Vontimitta town in Kadapa district is famous for the Kodanda Ramaswamy Temple, which was built by the Chola and Vijayanagara kings. Few temples in the country can rival it for the sheer magnificence. The images of Rama, Lakshmana and Sita are carved on a single piece of rock. it is said that Rama, Lakshmana and Sita spent some time here in the forest during the period of their exile. Splendid architecturally, a large beautiful sculptured Mandapam with exquisitely carved pillars, an inner chamber and the sanctum. Must visit Temple.

It was a pleasant Evening when we went for dharshanam with a very small crowd and had archana very near to the swamy garbha gudi. Temple is an ancient one and I saw the Silaashasanam from the 1300th century. Very old temple. Temple nearby parks are developed and have toilets well maintained. The temple was destroyed by the Mughals in the 14th century. Many of the statues have no head. Sad to see those like that.
