Beautiful place to visit. It took almost 3hrs to reach the temple by hiking, return took 1hr 30mins. A customized tractor transports pilgrims, but it can accommodate 20 to 30 people at a time. It may be risky if you have a spinal cord problem or back pain. Because the road is bumpy and full of rocks. It is quite hard to hike. But if you want to feel nature's calmness and fresh breath, then don't mind the pain and hike slowly by taking rest in lateral intervals. Carry water, at least 1ltr per person. Carry biscuits and chocolates if you are low sugar compliant. Please don't throw trash, take them with you. Wear chappals or shoes which have a very good grip, otherwise it's very difficult for hiking. You can wear it until the temple. Be careful if you hike barefoot. Some stones are sharp and as usual the drunkers did their work all over the hill, broken bottle pieces at both sides of the pathway. The tractor starts from Adivaram by 8AM in the morning and gets down around 10:30AM. Again starts around 11:30AM and gets down around 4PM. Timings are uncertain and if there are more pilgrims you may not get a seat. So don't rely on this. 4 wheelers like sumo, scorpio can climb. But only "skilled drivers" can make it. Because the ups and down, bends are extremely difficult than you imagine. "You cannot get any help if you are stuck on the mountain." Many people riding 2 wheelers like hero splendor, TVS access. But in my opinion, there are many chances that these bikes will be easily damaged and may not make it if the vehicle condition is not good. You can park your vehicle at the Adivaram, it will be safe, no need to worry. There will be no shops on the way. You can see one on the top near the temple which sells pooja items, biscuits, water, carbonated water and oil fried snacks. Free lunch served by the temple. No animal threat on the way. A few monkeys near the temple, but they will not disturb unless you openly carry any food or water. Carry them in a backpack or a bag.
Divine experience, the trekking is hardcore. Please wear a sandal or shoe. The road is definitely not recommended for two wheeler especially if you are not used to this kind of road. Descending in two wheeler is really hard. I chose to walk because of it. Took me around 2 hrs and return around 1 hr. I am not a pro trekker, so you can assume the time based on your trekking skills. Car can be helpful provided if it's suv with high ground clearance.
A kind request to anyone reading this, please don't throw any trash. You will definitely need water, if you're riding. The place was so good few years ago but now there are old water/alcohol bottles in few places. Please carry back your trash and dispose it elsewhere. Thank you
Divine and beautiful but we can go only in tractor or by trekking.. it's extremely difficult to go by two wheeler or cars.. the tractor is customised to take passengers though it's risky we had no other choice but to go in that tractor.. bumpy roller coaster ride.. I wouldn't recommend ppl with spine problems or weak health to go on tractor ride.. one should be strong enough to climb that mountain.. but all that pain n effort is worth.. it's beautiful place indeed.. om namo narayana ,
Temple is at top of the hill. To reach there you can try 1 of the 2 options listed below: 1. Park your vehicle (recommended for normal 4 wheelers) near Ankalamman temple at base of the mountain and start walking along the road from there. It can take 1.45+ hrs to reach steps path near the temple. 2. Use your 2 wheeler or 4 wheel drive or car with good ground clearance (like Scorpio or sumo) or the tractor which goes uphill and reach the second parking near the steps path. From the steps path to the temple, it will take around 25+ min. Make sure to carry water. Some shops (selling water or snacks) are available only at start of steps path or near the temple. Abhishekam seem start after 12 noon (mostly around 1:00 pm). So try to plan accordingly
