aangkilttil elllutuvtrrku mnnnnnnikkvum. After having a wonderful darshan in Thirumullaivaiyil, we drove to this temple. Though we reached the temple around 9.45 am, found the temple closed. One of the locals told us that the priest has gone, but we can open the door and go inside, since it is not locked. Amazing no one in the vicinity of the temple, temple left open and we are saying people are stealing idols from temples. Felt very sad, that we could not have a good darshan of the lord since the temple has lot of wonderful history. Before we go any further, don't get confused with the name of the temple / place. This place is called Thirukurukavur " tirukkurukaavuur". This is different from Thirukadavur (thirukadaiyur) tirukkttvuur and Thirukaragavur "tirukkrukaavuur". Sundaramurthy nayanar was coming to visit this temple, but got lost. knowing that he would come this way, the Lord was waiting for him with food water etc, told him to have the food etc and to have good rest. When sundaramurthy nayanar woke up from the nap, he found everything gone. Then he realised that it was God who had come and served him. Sundaramurthy Nayanar mentions the above incident in his wonderful pathigam that he sang on the lord. There is another interesting incident, related to this temple. Saint Thiruganasambandar, understood he has done a mistake (repeat a mistake not a sin), hence he prays the lord that he wanted to come to Kasi and bathe in river Ganges and pray in Kasi. The lord, told him, not to come to Kasi since it is too far away, hence told him that he will bring River Ganges for him at this temple, and he can come take bath and pray in this temple. Was reading a blog, where the writer was saying that the above mentioned incident didn't happen, or it is a mere figment of imagination, because it was a mistake (sin) in itself to think that Thiruganasambandar made a mistake (sin). I too agree with writer of the blog, but then Sundaramurthy Nayanar who comes 100 years later, in his pathigam sings that the Lord agreed and kept quiet when Thiruganasambandar did a mistake. SO......................................... Temple facing east, Lord Sri Velladai Eswarar faces east. No Rajagopuram. No kodimaram present. Not sure if the temple has a temple pond or not, because we didn't see one near the temple. Interestingly one of the names of the Lord is Sri Velladai Eswarar. Both Sundaramurthy Nayanar and Thiruganasambandar use this name in all the stanzas of their pathigam. One reason they say it is called Velladai because in sanskrit, this roughly means "Place of worship". Another reason they say is Lord Vishnu took the form of a white bull and worshipped the lord, hence he is called "Vellaidai" (white). Sundaramurthy Nayanar in his pathigam 7.029 sings beautifully about the incident where the lord fed him when he was hungry enroute to the temple. aaviyaip pookaamee tvirttennnnnnai aattkonnttaay vaaviyirr kylpaayk kullttittai mttaitoorrung kaaviyung kuvllaiyung kmlnyceng kllluniirum meeviy kurukaavuur vellllttai niiynnnrree. 2 paattuvaar pcitiirppaay prvuvaar pinnikllaivaay oottunnnn klnnnaak unnplik kullllvaannnee kaattunl littmaakk kttuvirull nttmaattum veettnnnee kurukaavuur vellllttai niiynnnrree. 3 pnnnnittait tmillloppaay plllttinnnirr cuvaiyoppaay knnnnittai mnniyoppaay kttuvirutt cuttroppaay mnnnnittai attiyaarkll mnnnttittr vaaraamee vinnnnittaik kurukaavuur vellllttai niiynnnrree. 6 simply unbelivable, stunning to see the choice of words and the way he thanks the lord and also requests the lord to help the devotees. Temple is very nice. Priest is available only on call as he is performing Pooja in some other temple also.Pathigam of this temple is very powerful and it was popularised by Mahaperiava.I humbly request people in and around visit the temple and provide things for the Pooja. ..
Sri Velladainathar Temple, Thirukarukavur Shiva temple and it's my native 7 Km From Sirkali Town, Olden pride shiva temple good vibes,"thai amavasai" is big celebration of this temple...
On this day, the procession idol of Gnanasambandar is brought to this temple from the Sirkali Brahmmapureeswarar temple. The Presiding deity of this temple (Velladainathar) and Goddess (Kavianganni) grants audience to Sambandar and give him the Theertham. Sambandar returns to Sirkali in the evening. This is celebrated as grand festival During his pilgrimage, Saivite Saint Sundarar came to this place to worship Shiva, but could not find the temple as the place was a dense jungle then. He sadly continued his journey with his followers. When he felt very hungry, an old man came to him and said that he was feeding Shiva devotees at a nearby place and asked him to come there for a lunch. Sundarar and his followers enjoyed a good feast coupled with hospitality of the host. After the lunch, Sundarar slept for a while as he was very tired then. When he woke up, he found neither the feeding camp nor any sign of feeding event. He realized that it was Lord Shiva who quenched his hunger. Lord Shiva appeared before Sundarar and showed him the temple. This Feeding event is celebrated as a great festival on the Full Moon Day of the month of Chithirai (April-May) in the temple. Devotees believe that worshipping the Lord here would ensure them a life free of hunger.
