One of the most powerful Shivan temple. Vibrations are so strong and powerful. Our bad karma will get cleared out and only positives.

Yamadharmar temple, Gupta Theertham & Ema Theertham inside Vanchinathar temple. It is believed that Darshan after bath in Gupta Ganga would solve all problems related to jobs and separated couples.

Sri Vanchiyam temple is an ancient temple of 6th or 7th Century CE. There are stone inscriptions depicting renovation works by Rajaraja and Rajendra Chola kings. The presiding deity is Sri Vanchinathar (Shiva) and his consort Mangalambigai (Parvathi). Both have their own independent shrines here. Speciality of this temple is the proud of place given to God of Death Yama and his minister Chitraguptha. Devotees visiting this temple first have a dip in the holy temple tank known as Guptha Ganga, then visit the shrines of Yama and Chitraguptha (at the entrance to the temple), before proceeding to worship Vanchinathar. This ensures that you will have no more births. Plus, this temple is considered auspicious for removing Rahu/Ketu doshas. The temple tank, Gupthaganga, is considered holier than river Ganga because it is believed that as directed by Lord Shiva, Ganga Devi left only a tiny bit of her holiness at the river, and is residing in this holy tank with her remaining 999 parts of holiness inside this tank. Another speciality of this temple is that this is the only Shiva temple that is kept open during eclipse days. Abhishekams are performed during that times. The temple has shrines for Somaskandar, Nataraja and Mahishasuramardini. If one worships Mahishasuramardini here with 108 lotus flowers, it is believed that all your problems will vanish. A massive temple with lovely statues and interesting stone inscriptions.

Excellent temple but no public transportation. The roads are very narrow and take time to reach. No good stay or food available nearby so need to plan in Thanjavur if you are traveling that way. A very peaceful place and must visit.

Ancient Shiva Temple . This is the only temple where a devotee has to have Darshan of Dharmaraja first before Ganesha. The temple pond is known as Gupt Ganga.

This is one of the most unique temples in Hindu culture. The one place with Yama shrine and special offerings performed to him. There is a Brahma statue and also Rahu Ketu complete single statue. The Kolam is damn big and accomodate 100s to take bath at once. The main deity is Lord Shiva with Parvati Devi, Yamadhrama Raja. Visit this place for removal of any dosham of any kind. The temple is open from 5am in the morning not sure about closing time. I went on 26th December 2021. The photos are clicked at that time.
