Also called as Rock Fort temple located over top of the hillock in the city of Tiruchirappalli and is built with rocks that are believed to be over a million years old. Rockfort temple timings is from 6 AM to 8 PM.. from the top of the hill you will be having a panoramic view of the city
A padal Petra sthalm. This temple is so famous in the name of Utchi Pillayar temple. When you step up to Utchi Pillayar temple this Thayumanavar (shiva) temple, Mouna madam temple, Meenakshi Sundreshwarer temple, many small temple (sculpture) and also Pallava caves is on this route. Big step around 600 is there. All temple are well maintained. You should have to spend about 3 hours to get your dharsan and photos.
Very nice temple with Devine location. Ancient architectural marvel and swarg for devotees. Omm namah shivay
Nice temple. You need to climb 300-400 steps to reach top. There is no parking facility for car . Use auto to reach foothills of temple. Auto charge 100 inr from main bustand. Carry water . Timing post evening 5 pm reaching there is good for you.
Temple is located on top of a hill. Accessibility is via stairs. The best time to visit is during evenings when you can watch the city scape while enjoying the the cool breeze.
Excellent temple in the city. Lord Shiv as Thayumanavar swamy. At the entrance , shop people forcing the pilgrims to buy things. Temple authority should have a look.
Situated more than halfway mark to the Uchipillayar temple in the Rockfort, at the left side. The temple is big, considering it being located on the hills. Open between 6 am to 12 pm and 4 pm to 8 pm. Need to climb approximately 300 steep steps to reach the temple. When I first visited the temple, I was very much astonished to see the grandeur of the Thayumanvar statue and had a very great vibration. Separate temple for Martyvarakuzhalai ammai. Still could recall the divine feeling from the first visit. The second time could not be visited as the temple was closed during noon time and it was opened only during the evening. The third time visit was an early morning visit, and I sat there for more than an hour just seeing the Lord for more time. Observed that most of the people visit in a tourist mindset and just pray and quickly go. But this is not the temple to just leave but to stay and pray. Remember, people bring full stem full of bananas and milk for placing before God. Whenever we visit Trichy, I will try to visit this temple for peacefulness and sort of astonishment feel. Everyone should visit to feel the divine experience.
It is a beautiful temple of Lord Shiva on the Trichy Rock fort. There is also a Goddess Parvati temple next to it.
