One of the oldest temples in bangalore. Went the next day of soorasamharam , too huge rush. Good parking space available on the main road, but I was not lucky to get the parking space. But parking space available for 2 wheelers. Better to come in metro, which is near the temple. Temple needs to be maintained properly. There is no water tap available for handwash within the temple.
One of the oldest Muruga Temples in Bangalore. Was crowded during a sashti day. Lovely temple. Can be maintained in a better manner. Has plenty of parking options in the side entrance area. There is also a paid BBMP paid parking area nearby the temple. Must visit.
A Spiritual Haven in the Heart of Bangalore Located in the serene neighborhood of Ulsoor in Bangalore, the Sri Subrahmanya Swami Temple stands as a spiritual oasis amidst the bustling city. I recently had the opportunity to visit this ancient temple and immerse myself in its rich history, divine ambiance, and vibrant religious practices. The larger than life statue of Lord subrahmanya welcomes you on your arrival... Upon entering the temple premises, I was immediately captivated by its striking architecture. The intricate carvings, colorful sculptures, and ornate pillars truly showcased the skill and craftsmanship of the artisans. The temple exuded a sense of grandeur and devotion, creating a perfect atmosphere for spiritual contemplation. The main deity of the temple, Lord Subrahmanya, is believed to be the son of Lord Shiva and Parvati, and an embodiment of wisdom and valor. The idol, adorned with elaborate garlands and vibrant attire, exudes a divine aura. The priests conducted the rituals with utmost dedication, chanting sacred mantras and offering prayers, which added to the spiritual experience. The temple complex also houses shrines dedicated to other deities, such as Lord Ganesha and Goddess Parvati, providing devotees with a comprehensive religious experience. The serene ambiance, the fragrance of incense, and the rhythmic sounds of the temple bells created a serene and meditative atmosphere. One aspect that impressed me was the cleanliness and maintenance of the temple. The surroundings were immaculate, and the temple authorities ensured that the premises were well-kept. The availability of facilities like shoe stands, drinking water, and restrooms for visitors added to the convenience and comfort of devotees. The Sri Subrahmanya Swami Temple is not just a place of worship but also a cultural hub. It hosts various religious festivals and cultural events throughout the year, attracting a diverse crowd of devotees and enthusiasts. These celebrations offer a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage and traditions of the region, making the temple an important cultural landmark in Bangalore. The only slight drawback I observed was the limited parking space available nearby, especially during peak hours and festive seasons. It is advisable to plan your visit accordingly or make use of public transportation to avoid any inconvenience. Overall, my visit to the Sri Subrahmanya Swami Temple was a deeply fulfilling and spiritually enriching experience. It is a haven of tranquility and devotion, allowing visitors to connect with their inner selves and seek solace in the divine. Whether you are a devout follower or a curious explorer of different faiths, this temple in Ulsoor is a must-visit for its architectural beauty, serene atmosphere, and cultural significance.
The Sri Subrahmanya Temple is a venerable place of worship with a history spanning over 800 years. Situated near the renowned Halasuru Someshwara Temple and opposite the Sri Adhi Vinayaka Temple, it holds a distinct position in the religious landscape. Interestingly, it is believed that this temple predates the Halasuru Someshwara Temple. The deity venerated here is known as Ananda Murugan, and the idol of Lord Subrahmanya is considered a replica of the one at the Thiruthani Murugan Temple, which is among the Arupadaiveedus of Murugan. Within the temple, Lord Subrahmanya is accompanied by Valli on His right and Devasena on His left, each housed in separate shrines. According to legend, this temple owes its existence to one of the Maharajas of Mysore from centuries ago. The Maharaja, en route to visit his uncle who suffered from an eye ailment, learned of devotees frequenting an anthill at the present temple site. He made a solemn vow that if his uncle's eyes were healed, he would construct a temple in gratitude. Upon his return to Mysore, he received the joyful news of his uncle's recovery, and thus, the temple was erected as a votive offering to fulfill his promise. The temple boasts a sculpture of sage Mandavya in the Mantapam, believed to be the result of the sage's divine directive. Some accounts suggest that this temple may have been constructed around the same time as the Sri Someshwara Temple, possibly due to its association with Sage Mandavya. The temple's sanctum encompasses shrines for Chandikeshwara, Nagadevata, and other deities, indicating its history as a Shiva temple. Additionally, the temple features Ardha Nareeshwara, Durga, Surya Narayana, Sage Agastya, Navagrahas, and Kalabhairava. Its religious practices adhere to the Shaivagama guidelines, as evident by Nandis on the temple walls and a shrine for Lord Vishnu at the back entrance. The sacred Athi maram stands as the Sthala Vriksha, and a temple tank graces the premises.
