OM NAMAH SHIVAYA Theerthanagiri is the present name. Mentioned as Thiru Thinai Nagar in Thevaram. Kondrai tree is the sthala viruksham. Lord Shiva in form of a elderly man ate food under this tree. Lord Mahavishnu and Lord Brahma playing music can be seen under Lord Natarajar . No Muyalakan below Lord Dakshinamoorthy. A Sage who was cursed to become a bear did penance here and got rid of the curse. Glorified in Thevaram by Saint Sundarar.

I recently visited the temple in question and was extremely disappointed with my experience. The management of the temple was extremely poor, with a lack of organization and attention to detail. The Kovil Archagar, who is responsible for overseeing the temple's operations, was particularly lethargic and seemed to have little interest in ensuring that visitors had a positive experience. Furthermore, the Kovil Archagar was not present during my visit and seemed to have little concern for the well-being of the temple or its visitors. He seemed to be more concerned with his personal matters rather than the temple's operations. Overall, I would not recommend this temple to anyone. The poor management and lethargic attitude of the Kovil Archagar made for a very disappointing experience. It is clear that the temple is in need of significant improvements in order to provide an enjoyable and worthwhile experience for visitors.

For soul awakening, and to bring yourself to peace, the best way is to visit The Sri Shivakkozhuntheeswarar Temple (Theerthanagiri, Cuddalore dist, Tamilnadu, India). There is something so pure in the ambience of the place that makes you feel so calm and sedate. And it's like a whole new experience, the first time.

One among the padal pettra sthalam. Sundarar had composed the hymn. Originally the village was called by thiruthinai nagar as the thinai, a kind of food material, has grown up just in hours for the nayanar. East facing temple has a rajagopuram with 3 tiers and five antennas, ambal is in the first praharam facing south. Though rajagopuram is facing east the main sanctum entrance is facing south whereas easwaran is facing east. specials about: Nataraja moorthy vigraham , at the bottom, has bramma with pancha-natham and vishnu with conch. Daksnamoorthy in the yoga pose, kodi maram , nandhi are in the just entrance before the main raja gopuram, Ambal has an eye in the fore head. sandeshar with his consort. This sthalam is near cuddalore to chidambaram road near alapakkam in just 4 KM. Blessed to visit ambal karunthadankanni and easwar sivakozhundeeshar at this temple.

There lived a farmer couple in this region in olden days. They had the habit of taking their food only after feeding a Shiva devotee. To test their faith, Lord Shiva did not give them any devotee one day. The couple went to their field with the intention of feeding their workers. They were also absent. Yet they waited. Finally, a ripe old man came to the place. The couple requested the old man to accept their hospitality. The man replied that he would not accept the food free but would have it as a wage for a work he can do for them. The farmer asked him to plough his land. Meantime, the couple went home and returned with the food. They were surprised that the crop had grown and was ready for harvest. The farmer served the food to old man near the Kondrai tree and asked him how the crop grew so fast. The old man disappeared. Lord appeared before the farmer and said He only came in disguise. The farmer begged the Lord to stay in the place. Lord granted his wish, stayed here as a swayambulinga.

Padalpetra sthalam. Good village atmosphere. Slightly remote. Good road connectivity. Cars vans can be parked free near the temple without any problems.
