Sri Mahadeva Iyer Sweets - Sweet shop in Pollachi - Coimbatore, India

The shop is in a house in a street in a residential area. It's a corner house. There's no parking. We went there for murukkus. Their ribbon pakoda is quite nice. Prices slightly on the higher side though. They also serve packed meals (not allowed to be eaten inside). We had a sambar Vada which was okay.

For a person like me from a B Town the shop might sound overrated at the first cut because of their traditional ambience and limited variety. I feel the sweet are better over their savouries. I just indulged in their Jaangiri and surul poli. If you are a fan of varieties of idli podi, then try out their idly ellu podi (seasame) which is a fusion of idly podi with coconut and seasame in a mild sweeter version. The jaangiri gets over around 8:30 pm in the weekdays. Special mention travelers : if you want to go in a quick food trail on the way to satisfy your sweet tooth then just jump in to eat their jaangiri, surul poli and Badam halwa each priced around Rs20-30 per piece.

We had ordered Diwali delicacies from Mahadeva iyer sweets, a traditional landmark in pollachi..we had ordered surul poori, mysorepak and karachev....Their trademark dish surul poori(image) was melting in mouth and mysore pak too was excellent. We had already had badam halwa which was equally delicious. Will continue to order further to explore more sweets and savories. Will try their meals once I visit pollachi A must visit place to have pure ghee sweets and best quality savories in pollachi more than 50yrs

The famous sweets shop of Pollachi. Their surul Puri is unique and special. Not to be missed whenever you visit Pollachi Car parking is not available. you need to park on the palladam main road. Sunday open for half day only. We Reached late on a Sunday and it was closed. When we called, they opened and seved us.

Please make a note of this. If you need sweets from Iyer shop, you have to leave your slippers outside the shop. Else you won't get sweets. My Diwali's mood got spoiled because of these fellows. Very poor response. Insulting behaviours. Egoistic fellows.
