Exllent old temple, but road not good
This is a very famous temple of sri lakshmi narasimha swami. It is said that the temple built around 14th and 15th century... Very less known to people but very famous. Here we cannot see the feet of mula virat as the feet are buried under "putta". A must visit for spiritual seekers.
Ttd should help to renovate this old temple.temple priest is polite and explained in detail the temple story, how Lord Narasimha is on putta and how they keep milk etc.Govt of endowment is looking after this temple.God is having 40 acrers land.Hope government will increase lease money and develop the temple. The roads from karapa, sampara is horrible. To improve. The fee for abhishekam is 50 rs only.To advertise in svbc thirdhayatra and other local channel and give wide publicity.
Visit to this place was unplanned but it was a delightful trip. Temple has a long history. Here Sri Lakshinarasimha Swamy is Swayambhu and is really unique. Abhishekham is famous and temple is thronged on the Abhishekam days.. five in a month. A must visit for all.
Puttakonda temple is not on the hill as it is suggested by its name. The temple is very calm, peaceful and powerful. ABHISEKHAM will be performed to Lord Sri Lakshminarasimha Swamy on every ekadasi, amavasya, poornima and the day of sankramanam (the day of change of SUN from one raasi to the other )in every month. It is a great belief that the abhisekha jalam is very auspicious to cure all our sins. Radhavostavam is performed on Maagha Suddaha Ekadasi.
Puttakonda is a small village away from Kakinada, the head quarters of E.G. dist(A.P, India). The name Puttakonda means an 'anthill'. It attained the status of a pilgrim centre due to the shrine of the deity Lakshmi Narasimha Perumal, who showers blessings on His devotees. The village has long history. It was once an uninhabited full of wild trees and scattered rocks. It was once a small hillock by the side of which a small rivulet of river Godavariflows. Lord Narasimha swamy along with His consort Goddess Lakshmi adorns the place as their abode with the intention of blessings the people. It so happened that a great serpent chanced to see the Lord and began to worship the Lord with great devotion. In course of time it built a mound near the God and served him offering its prayers. The feet of the Lord covered with this soil and His feet were not visible. The village aptly earned the name Puttakonda.
