We had booked ac rooms in advance for our group of 20 people. Just a day before our arrival they informed us ac rooms have been given away to some other people and we had to stay in their other building which is next to the current janaki mahal. Very poor service by rude watchman. Dirty rooms and pathetic washrooms. Not recommended for stay. We were not even given keys to lock our rooms. When asked the watchman he says we have to buy a lock from the nearby shop to lock our room. Strange right? However their mandir is greatly divine. Do visit the mandir only.
Discrimination at it's best in this holy place We arrived tired on our pilgrimage to this holy place and we're excited hearing the chants of holy name Ram from the temple when arriving. But on entering the reception, harshly they let us know that we as foreigners are not welcome. They didn't want to give us a room as we don't have Indian passport. Amazing place to stay at. It's very well made. The rooms are also very large. They have space for 3 people in one room. And it also has kitchen in it, and western toilets. COST FOR STAY - Rs 400 without AC rooms , Rs 800 with AC rooms ( In the time of March 2022 when I visited ) Food - They give lunch & dinner for Rs 50 Rs each. The food here is Amazing. All the food they prepare is without onion and garlic. Overall review - They don't have any room service kind of thing, so don't expect that. It runs on a Trust , and non profit organization, they only charge for repair & maintenance, not for any kind of profit.
Temple is beautiful. Rooms are very good but hot water is never available, ac doesn't work. Service is non existence. Food is a big NO. Completely unhygienic. It's a good place to stay as located centrally and has a beautiful ambience.
Best place to visit once, especially on any festival like Ram Vivah or Ram Navmi or Deepotsava, etc.
