Sri Hanuman Temple - Featured Reviews (294)
This is a Lord Hanuman temple locate next to Chakrateertham and Kodanda Ramaswamy temple. Lord in the idol, appears inside an yantra, sitting in a meditation (Dhyana) pose. However, this idol is not carved by any sculpture. In the initial years, it appeared like a line drawing on a stone. Over the years, as the temple goers explain, the idol has been protruding outwards. It is a peaceful temple and there would be lot of rush on Saturdays and other festival days. You need to be careful with monkeys.
This temple is situated on the top of the hill. You have to climb a lot of stairs to reach here. At the bottom of the hill there is a place to park the cars and we can also buy water from here if necessary. As it is a very crowded place in the evenings, people climb the hill with loud noise. Plastic wraps and bottles can be seen thrown carelessly on either side of the stairs. The environment is not very clean due to the presence of many monkeys. If you go to the top, you have to take off your shoes. Beware: Monkeys are aggressive. Avoid bags and food items as much as possible, as they are more likely to be attacked by monkeys.
This temple is up the hill. Just behind the monolithic bull there are steps. After you climb, you reach over here. When we visited, it was locked from outside. We could see the statue through the grill. The ruins of Achutraya temple are further below from this place. Surroundings are clean. Great spot for photo shoot.
Yantrodharaka Hanuman Temple built by the Madhva saint Sri Vyasaraja in 15th century. There is a also temple near by yantrodharaka dedicated to Lord Rama called Kodandarama Temple which stands as an evidence of Rama's and Hanuman's union in this place. The temple is located at hill top on the banks of Tungabhadra River in Hampi, Karnataka. Legend also says that, Lord Rama and Hanuman met for the first time here on a hill called Malyavana hill near by. It's walkable distance of 1 km from virupaksha temple through the ancient way by walk. Vijay vittala temple is 1.4 km from here on the ancient way by walk.
The temple is situated at the top of the hill. It has more than 550+ steps, the steps are covered by well sun-shade. From the top of the temple one can amazed with the awesome view of the whole hampi region. There are lots of Hanumans. The sunrise or sunset from this hill is just mesmerizing. One must visit Hampi, it will totally refresh you. The place with the peace and soulful. Camera and mobile phone are allowed. But you have to remove shoes at shoe keeping shop which cost Rs-3 per pair of shoes.

Place very close to Vittala temple in Humpi. This is one temple where still pooja happening. One can walk from Vittala temple to this place, it will be about 20 min walk from kings balance. The same can also be reached via walk from Virupaksha temple too.
One has to climb 570 steps to reach the temple since it is located on top of the hill. Though the climb is steep, the beautiful views and the pleasant air make up for the climbing. One is also likely to come across aged people climbing up with energy and devotion. There is a small temple just 5 minutes away from the Yantrodharaka Temple which is dedicated to an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, i.e. Lord Srinivasa. His idol has been carved out by Sri Vyasaraja. Below a fig tree in front of the Hanuman Temple lie some snakestones, and they are worshipped as well. It is one of the must-visit spots for all the nature as well as religious lovers.
