We came from Malaysia Sept 2023, had very good experiences during landing and departure time. Thank you to all Airport staff for making our starting and ending very beautiful. A special thanks to check in counter crew. He was very helpful with big smile. I didn't bought any sweets and was going back to Malaysia without sweets. Luckily saw sweet shop after check in....We bought lot of sweets and chocolate. And these sweets don't count in extra luggage . Tastes of all sweets were premium. Thanks . Worth buying. If possible next time again I'll book Amritsar airport and give business to Punjab. Last all my trips ( 1 year twice ) I travel via Delhi and all money going to indo Canadian bus, Delhi airport and Haryana hawali food stalls. Hope Punjab do more better that all international flights landed directly to Punjab.

Amritsar International Airport is a large and modern airport that serves the city of Amritsar in Punjab, India. The airport has undergone major renovations and expansions in recent years, making it one of the busiest and most important airports in northern India. Despite its size and cleanliness, however, the airport has a persistent problem with mosquitoes. This is likely due to the fact that the airport is located in a humid and tropical region, which provides a favorable environment for these insects to thrive. While airport authorities have taken measures to control the mosquito population, visitors are advised to take precautions, such as wearing long sleeves and pants and using mosquito repellent. Another issue with the airport is the parking situation. The airport offers parking facilities for both short-term and long-term parking, but visitors have complained that the parking areas can become congested and difficult to navigate. In addition, there is no separate parking area for arrivals and departures, which can create confusion and congestion as passengers try to park their vehicles in the same area. To improve the parking situation, airport authorities should consider creating separate parking areas for arrivals and departures. This would help to reduce traffic and congestion in the parking areas and make it easier for passengers to find available parking spaces. Additionally, the airport could consider expanding its parking facilities to accommodate the growing number of passengers using the airport. Overall, Amritsar International Airport is a modern and well-maintained airport that serves the needs of travelers to and from the city of Amritsar. While there are some issues with mosquitoes and parking, these can be addressed with proper planning and management.

Probably the most backwater "international" airport that I've come across. Given the number of people using this, it is in a very bad shape. 1. Very poor luggage scanning system: You have to manually lift and load your heavy check-in baggage into the scanning machines, and even then due to poor quality scanners or whatever, they'll ask you to open your luggage and get stuff checked manually. You have to open all your large bags and take out your clothes and whatnot to show them what's what, primarily because their scanners are of no use. No other airport I've ever seen do that. You go to check-in counter, weigh your baggage and that's it. 2. Poorly taught staff: The ones tasked with checking the luggage have no idea how to deal with passengers and their items. Many a times, the check-in baggage team will say some of these items need to be taken out and put into your carry-in cabin bag. And upon being inspected by the next staff, they'll ask to remove the items and put them away in check-in luggage (which at that point isn't accessible), so you have no choice but to leave your stuff at airport no matter how expensive it is. I've seen people leave their chargers/batteries/cables just because staff didn't allow them to take those items with them (even though they've taken those same items through multiple airports elsewhere across India and the world). 3. Poorly designed visiting area: If you buy a visitor's pass to go inside to see off your loved ones before they board, you'll be confined to a very small section just inside the main entrance. What's worse, is the ones about to board are not allowed to stay in that section (even though they have to pass through it). It's better to stay outside till check-in time than to go inside and get separated for no reason. 4. Substandard luggage-belt: The baggage receiving area is one of the shoddiest I've seen. Baggage is just thrown randomly and no staff even care to properly align them, sometimes making stuff fall off at ramps. Because of all of this and huge inconveniences faced while taking a flight, a lot of people in Punjab (even from Amritsar) usually opt to travel to Delhi in train/bus and board a flight from there just to save themselves from the bad experience of Amritsar airport. Airport Authority of India needs to work on this.

This is a small airport. You need to scan your own luggage at this airport before check in. It has food and beverages on ground and first floor. You will get veg and non veg options. They also have primus lounge here. Washrooms are not maintained.

Renovated airport look has added great impact. Check in, immigration and screening processes were very smooth and without any flaws. Toilets are also clean and modern as compared to last 4 years when I visited last time. I don't think you need to go to Delhi if you can catch your flight to your destination from here. Airport has been renovated with all the modern facilities with added first floor and an elevator is installed too. Seatings for people who come to pick up and drop off their loved ones are arranged outside which is plus point.
