It Is a Famous Temple located in Telangana State. Aksharabhysam Pooja is done within 10 minutes. When entering the temple you have to wait for the Que Line, 30 mins to 1hr.
Good place to visit with family members. Especially with the children going to start their schooling. Inside the temple no Hindi English guidelines available. Out state people face problems. Don't visit during the summer season. It's a very hot place.
Nice temple of Goddess Saraswati located on the banks of Godavari River... It is one of the two famous Saraswati temples in the India, the other being Sharada Peeth. Kids are brought to the temple for d learning ceremony called as Akshara abyasam. Temple is divine and vibe is very positive... But this place is commercialized and management is not good... Staff is rude and there is overcharge for everything .. like Pooja, parking, photography, locker, shoe keeping etc. Also in temple boards are written only in Telugu.. so it's difficult for non Telugu people to understand... You have to buy following things for aksharabhyasam : Garlands, Book ,Pen,4 Slate,Slate pencil,Rice bowl,Coconut,Agarbathi, flowers, etc. Timing for Akshara abyasam. Morning- 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM Evening- 2 PM to 6 PM Ticket cost for Akshara abyasam is 100 rs. per kid n parent... Special Aksharabhyasam cost is 1000 rs. Which is too much.. Camera phone is not allowed Inside... photography is changed 100rs .per person.. Overall it's a nice divine temple and must visit for Goddess Saraswati mata 's... but management is not good and people are money minded..
Very nice temple, please visit this temple for sarawasthi ammavaru Pooja for kids below four years also known as basara, the Pooja was done very nice, priests did the Pooja with patience and made everyone to chant the mantras while doing Pooja, better go early morning session which starts at 7:30 am, the sessions will be till afternoon and stops for two hours and continues till night, closing time is around 8:30 to 9:00 pm and mobiles are not allowed inside temple.
Temple is considered auspicious for Aksharabhyasam. Godavari river is near to the temple. Bus and train facility is also available. Basara is 210km from Hyderabad. TSRTC direct buses available to basara from hyderabad. Journey takes around 5 hours. Clockroom (for luggage) available. Aksharabyasam Timings 7.30-12.30 and 2.00-6.00PM Cost Aksharabyasam - 150 (Outside hall) Special Aksharabyasam - 1000 (in temple permsis) Only kid & parents allowed. For extra persons Rs.100 each. Aksharabyasam takes around 20 mins. waiting time will be around 30 mins in week days. 1-2 hours in weekends. Things required for Aksharabyasam 1. Slate, slate pencil 2. Flower garland - 1 3. One coconut 4. Rice, Haldi, kumkum Other than the above mentioned items nothing is required and people outside will ask you to buy many things are required and charge hefty amount. No one even takes them . Its waste of money. Prasadam: Laddu and Pulihora, each 20rs. Mobile phones are not allowed and need to be submitted in a counter at the entrance. Inside the temple the photographer charging 100 per photo(print) and not even giving the soft copy. Photography and photographers in the temple is a worst business. Stationery and slates available near to the temple premises are costly, remember to bargain. Rush days: weekends and Major festival days like Basant Panchami, Dusshera, etc. Bathing ghat is about 1.5 kms from the temple. Dress changing rooms not available for ladies at ghat. ATM available but some times not working, better to bring along with you. Many shops not accepting UPI/online payments.
Good place crowded by monkeys .. you may see monkey sitting inside temple along with you .. overall nice exp . V close to godavari river banks .. be sure to have some time to chekc out the river banks ...
Considering the importance of this popular temple and how far the devotees come from, the temple needs better maintenance. Outlets and sellers around the temple force you to buy things at unusual prices which are not at all needed. I suggest you to carry everything that you need. I felt the whole place is very commercial which needs to be taken care by temple authority. Om Saraswatyai Namaha
