Sri Bhuvaraha Swamy Temple (Purana Sthalam) - Featured Reviews (2199)
A great place for worship and peace. The atmosphere is so calm and serene. The temple is a flawless construction of Dravidian Architecture. The pillars are constructed out of single piece rock on which structures are carved. There's a story (myth) regarding the temple as well. We were told that people often bring their vehicles to pray and purify them here. Wonderful place indeed. Must visit.
An excellent temple which is dedicated to lord Vishnu and thayaar. The temple is said to be constructed during late chola period and then maintained by Thanjavur Nayak. This temple has many special significance, those who are expecting child or those expecting marriage must visit this temple. Also many ppl give their vehicle keys for Pooja. The lord Vishnu is said as Bhu Varahaswamy ( boar faced ) and also a self made swayambhu. The architecture and the sculptures of this temple are grand and replicate the Chola period architecture. The worst situation is,the priest openly demands for money from tourists inside praharam after Pooja, which makes us disgusting. There is no spl priority queue in this temple ,all have to enter the main praharam through a common line only. The temple has a big parking space outside. As it's Puratasi month and Saturday's are crowded. The only issue is the monkeys, there are many many monkeys which cause a threat to tourist, they should be very careful with their belongings. A must watch temple.
Bhuvaraga swamy Temple, Sri Mushnam is located just 20 Kms from Vridhachalam Railway Station and 38 Kms from Chidambaram reachable by road. It is 24 kms from Jayamkondam whichis 90 kms from Trichy Tollgate. This temple is dedicated to Varaha Swamy, the boar avatar of Lord Vishnu. A small beautiful deity with human body facing west with boar head facing south is blessing the devotees there with Ambujavalli Thayar nearby. The mandap with karudalwr is very beautiful architectural marvel. This temple more than 1000 years old.
Old temple of a rare form of Vishnu in Varaha avatharam as bhuvaragha swamy and Lakshmi must see in your life time
Oldest temple. Spacious too. Near by there are other temples also available. Car parking is available. Way to car parking is some difficult during the fest times. They block main road to car parking. Map navigate through very narrow roads. Normal days place is less crowded, you can complete within some 15 to 30 minutes.
The Bhu Varaha Swamy temple is a Hindu temple, located at Srimushnam.Constructed in the South Indian style of architecture, the temple is dedicated to Varaha (Bhu Varaha Swamy), the boar-avatar of the god Vishnu and his consort Lakshmi as Ambujavalli Thayar. The temple was built by the Thanjavur Nayak king Achuthappa Nayak, a vassal of the Vijayanagara Empire. A granite wall surrounds the temple, enclosing all the shrines and the temple tanks. There is a seven-tiered rajagopuram, the temple's gateway tower. The temple is associated with Varaha, the boar avatar of Vishnu. The asura king Hiranyaksha stole the earth and took it to his realm of the netherworld. The earth-goddess Bhudevi prayed to Vishnu to rescue her. Pleased, Vishnu appeared here in the form of Varaha, a boar, who killed the asura. The sweat of Sri Bhuvaraha Swamy dropped here, creating the temple tank (Nithya Pushkarani). In his dying wish, the asura king asked Vishnu to turn towards his direction; Vishnu obliged. The central icon faces towards the asura in the south, while his human body faces the devotees in the West. The festival icon, Yagya Varahaswamy, as requested by Bhudevi displays the regular features of Vishnu with his conch and chakra in his hands. As per another legend, a local Nawab on the county was ailing with Carbuncle and was given up by all the doctors. He is believed to have prayed Bhuvaraha and was cured off all his ailments. He made generous contributions to the temple and was later named Bhura Sahib. Each year the deity is taken to the village when his descendants make offerings to the deity. The temple is considered one of the eight Sywayambu Kshetras of Vishnu where presiding deity is believed to have manifested on its own.
One of the unique temples in Tamil Nadu. Its the Varaha avathar boar avathar of Lord Vishnu. The temple is visited by childless couple seeking children and unmarried people seeking marriage. A must visit by all Hindus.
Very Old temple. The deity is small. Very powerful. You will get positive vibe. Must visit.
