Nice temple. The main god Lord siva. Named here Arulmigu Elavaarkuzhali samedha Sri Ekambaranathar Swamy. Here the special there is no abishegam for swamy linga moothi due to it was made by sand by ambal. 3500 years old mango tree (maavadi) here we able to see. Swamy Thirupalli urchavam especially on Monday it's looking like Kailash. Good and silent place to come with our family. Very peaceful place. Four wheelers parking is lot of parking structure here(parking charges collected by temple). Good temple. Awesome.
Ekambaranathar temple is one of the pancha bootha (for land) temple of lord shiva. Pancha bootha temples are air (kalahasti), water (trichy jambukeswar), fire (ARUNACHALESWAR), sky (Chidambaram natarajar), land (Kanchi Ekambaranathar). This temple is almost 4000 years old with spacious divine environment. Here Lingam is made of sand. In this temple Kanchi Kamatchi Amman had done tapas (Thavam) to marry lord shiva so this temple is considered as one of the famous parikara sthalam ( for the people who didn't get married and without child). We can see 3500 year old mango tree here, where special prayers are done. This temple is one of the 108 divya desam of lord venkateswara (perumal).Very pleasant place, stress buster. Inside temple thiru kulam (holy pond) is present, the chill breeze from it and the positive vibe of the temple will make our mind refreshing. Everyone must visit this temple atleast once in your life to feel the eternity. It is present at the centre of Kanchipuram city. Ample parking space is available. AVOID PLASTIC, SAVE NATURE, ENJOY THE DIVINITY. Om Namah Shivaya. HAPPY DEVOTION. Happy Life.
aangkilttil elllutuvtrrku mnnnnnnikkvum. Since Kachabeshwarar temple was closed, made up my mind to visit this temple. What a wonderful visit it turned out to be. First the temple. One of the pancha bootha sthalam. One of the padal petra sthalam First in Thondai nadu. One of the temples where all four (nalvar) have sung their thevaram and thiruvasagam pathigams. (A total 12 thevaram songs are there sung by the Thiruganasambandar, Appar peruman, Sundaramurthy nayanar). One of the temples where the Divya Desam (perumal) is situated inside the shiva temple. East facing temple, Rajagopuram present, kodimaram present. Temple pond present inside the temple compound. Thiruganasambandar has sung four pathigams on this temple Lord and in one of the songs he sings paayumaalvittai meeloru paaknnnee paavaitnnnnnnuru meeloru paaknnnee tuuyvaannnvr veett tuvnnniyee cootimaaleri veett tuvnnniyee aayunnnnporull nunnporu llaatiyee aalniillll arumporu llaatiyee kaayvinnnmtnnn ptttttu kmpmee knnnnutrrpr mrrkittng kmpmee. 1 Appar peruman has sung 7 pathigams on this lord and in one of the pathigam (4.044) he sings orumulllm ullll kuttttm onnnptu tullaiyu ttaittaay araimulllm atnnn aklm atnnnilvaalll mutlai aintu perumulllai vaaytl prrrrik kittntunaannn pitrrrru kinnnrreennn krumukil tvlllum maattk kcciyee kmp nnniiree. 2 Appar Peruman in his (4.007) song he sings kaippootu mlrtuuvik kaatlittu vaannnoorkll muppootum mutticaayttut tolllninnnrr mutlvnnnai appootu mlrtuuvi aimpulnnnum akttttkki eppootum innniyaannnai ennnmnnnttee vaitteennnee. 3 Sundaramurthy Nayanar in his pathigam 7.061 sings aaln taannnukn tmutucey taannnai aati yaiam rrtolllu teettum ciiln taannnperi tummuttai yaannnaic cintip paarvr cintaiyu llaannnai eel vaarkulll laallumai nngkai ennnrrum eetti vlllipttp perrrr kaal kaalnnnaik kmpnnnem maannnaik kaannk knnatti yeennnperrrr vaarree. 1 As i entered, saw that the paid que of was towards the Lord himself, and almost all the people were going through that line, where as the free darshan was totally empty, not even one person. I was thinking what a clever marketing strategy by these guys to lure every one into the paid que. As i went through the free darshan que, i was standing all alone and had one of the most wonderful darshan. No one disturbed me or anything and i started to sing all the thevaram and thiruvasagam songs. Felt so happy that i was allowed to stand so long without any disturbance. May be this was the First reason why the Kachabeshwarar temple was closed and i was made to come here. As i came out of the Sanctum Sanctorum, and going around the praharam, noticed lot of new things. First no Lord vinayagar, Lord dakshinamoorthy, Lord brahma, Lord lingothbhavar in the khostam. why ?. Did ask this question to one of the temple employees who i met in the inner praharam, he just gave me a stare and kept quiet. Then when i looked across on the other side, saw the 63 nayanmars in different setup. Though they are standing in line, but this is the first time i am seeing them, grouped under headings, "tillaivaalll antnnr" ..."mummaiyaal ulkaanntt" ......"vmprraa vrivnnttu" , immediately pulled out the song that i had in my mobile, that Sundaramurthy nayanar, had sung and began to correlate. It is clear that he has sung them in a particular order, or group. So Sundaramurthy nayanar was able to group them, and sing about them so beautifully, all in just a second, when the Lord instructed him to do so. Wow.. Wow... Now this increased the excitement in me so as to find out how and in what way he has sung the song. Maybe this was the Second reason why the Lord wanted me to come to this temple, by closing the Kachabeshwarar temple. Wonderful temple, worth visiting, would remember this particular for a long time.
nice and peaceful place. tremendously big temple. having ancient archaeological architecture on entrance and inside temple. It is significant to the Hindu sect of Saivism as one of the temples associated with the five elements, the Pancha Bhoota Stalas, and specifically the element of earth, or Prithvi. Shiva is worshiped as Ekambareswarar or Ekambaranathar, and is represented by the lingam, with his idol referred to as Prithvi lingam
Large temple complex with historic relevance This large complex which includes four huge gateway towers is dedicated to the deity Shiva. There is lots to see including a 3500 year old mango tree, linked to various legends involving Parvati. Non-Hindus aren't allowed in the sanctuaries. Beware of guides who will try to take an entry fee - there isn't one...
Here lord Shiva manisfested himself in the form of prithvi lingam. It is one among the panchabootha stalams of lord shiva representing one of the pancha bootham Earth! There is a 2500year old mango tree is preserved in which 5 types of mangoes can grow! There is a story behind it like under this tree goddess parvathi penanced for Lord shiva!! This temple is also a "Padal petra stalam".This temple is big and vast and having lot of sculptures!Be ready to walk to experience this vast big temple!
One of the large Temple complex. The main deity is Lord Shiva. Walkable distance from bus stop. The main gopura is very splendid with it's magnificent and very huge doors. There will be queue for darshan during weekends. It'll take about 45 min as the queue is fast moving. There is a mango tree inside the complex which is believed to be around 3500 old and has some mythological importance. Apart from that the large beautiful Temple structure and architecture will blow your mind. Must visit place in Kanchipuram.
The Ekambareshwar temple was in existence around 600 AD.The existing structure then, was pulled down and rebuilt by the Pallava Kings. The Cholas, who came later, also made several contributions to the kanchipuram ekambaranathar temple. The Raja gopuram was built by the Vijayanagara king Krishna Devaraya. The temple went through transformation during many a kings of the Pallava's,Chola's & the Vijayanagara Kings. The temple covers an area of 40 acres. There isn't a seperate sanctum for Parvati in the temple as Kamakshi Devi in the Kamakshi temple is supposed to be the concert of Ekambareshwar. There is a shrine for Vishnu in the form of Vamana. One notable feature of the temple is the Aayiram Kaal Mandapam, or the "hallway with a thousand pillars", which was built by the Vijayanagar Kings. The temple's inner walls are decorated with an array of 1,008 Siva lingams. The sthala-virutcham is a 3,500 year old mango tree whose branches are said to yield four different types of mangoes. According to another legend, it is believed that Parvati worshipped Shiva in the form of a Prithivi Lingam (or a Lingam improvised out of sand), under a mango tree. Legend has it that the neighboring Vegavati river overflowed and threatened to engulf the Shiva Lingam and that Parvati or Kamakshi embraced the Lingam. Shiva touched by the gesture materialized in person and married her. In this context he is referred to as Tazhuva kuzhainthaar ("He who melted in Her embrace") in Tamil. Lord Shiva is known as Ekambareswarar or "Lord of Mango Tree". However as per me the word Ekambareshwar Should be read as Ek(one),Amba(Mango) Eshwar(Lord). (The story behind the name, could have corrupted in mythology. The word ekambar in itself has many meanings. What to see. 1.Prithivi lingam,in a conical shape at the top. Denoting the element of (Earth). 2.Sahasra Lingam - 1008 lingams carved in a single lingam. 3. 3500 year old Mango tree,(Sthala Vriksham) under which Shiva & Parvati are supposed to have got married. Parvathi prayed to shiva under the tree made a lingam out of sand(Prithvi lingam),embraced it, to protect it from the floods of the vegavathi river and won the heart of lord Shiva. 4.Thousand pillared hall.( Airam kal Mandapam). 5. Nilaathingal Thundathan(Mahavishnu in the form of Vamana.
