I recently visited Vadakkumnatha Temple in Thrissur and was overwhelmed with the peace and sense of serenity the temple emanates. From the moment you enter the temple complex, you can feel the positive energy the place has. The whole atmosphere of the temple is filled with respect and reverence and the architecture of the temple is beautiful with ornate carvings and sculptures. The temple has a large number of devotees who come to seek blessings from the presiding deity and the priests are very knowledgeable and helpful. Overall, it was a great experience and I highly recommend visiting this temple if you are in Thrissur.

The Vadakkumnathan Temple is an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva in Thrissur, in the Thrissur district of Kerala, India. The temple is a classical example of the architectural style of Kerala and has one monumental tower on each of the four sides in addition to a koothambalam. Mural paintings depicting various scenes from the Mahabharata can be seen inside the temple. Once again in this temple too, as a respect you need to wear a mundu (traditional kerela wear) and go bear chest. We happened to visit in the evening so missed the look of it in the day light. Photography inside the temple is strictly prohibited. Managed to take a video out of the temple.

An absolute must visit temple. It's a very big temple complex with greenery all around. Just a look at the gaint trees will make you aware of the temple's antiquity. The temple is one of the finest examples of Malabar architecture and awe inspiring murals painted with vegetable colours. We can easily spend a couple of hours looking at the murals depicting various 'Puranas'. Don't miss the evening 'Arti' (soon after sunset) and morning 4.15 AM darshan where Sri Wadakkunathan abhishekam with ghee is performed. I pray that I visit this temple again and again

The vadakkumnathan temple, which is situated in the heart of the Thrissur city is nothing but an architectural splendour, a perfect depict of Kerala's rich culture and heritage... it attracts a large number of devotees and tourists. Lord Shiva is the major deity of the temple, along with Parvati, Ganapati, Sankaranarayana and Sri Rama (Vishnu). it also has four identical gopurams on four directions respectively. There is a koothambalam inside, which is used for staging Koothu, Nangyar Koothu, Koodiyattam etc. The Thrissur pooram is another captivating feature of the temple, which happens in the Thekkinkadu maidhanam every year. It is considered as poorangalude pooram. The main attractions of Pooram are panchavadhyam, Elanjithara melam, Kudamattam, Vedikettu and so on. Aanakotta, where we can see many elephants is one another major attraction. The beauty of the mural paintings, the majestic craftsmanship, the well maintained surroundings, the lush greenery, all add up to its serene ambience. This temple is a must-visit destination in Thrissur.

Vadakkumnathan temple is located at the bustling heart of the city, and I must say it's a truly unique and exceptional place. Despite the constant hustle and bustle of traffic just outside its gates, stepping into the temple felt like entering a different world altogether. The serene and peaceful atmosphere within the temple was astonishing, providing a stark contrast to the noise and commotion of the city. It was as if the chaos of the outside world ceased to exist the moment I crossed the threshold. The feeling of calmness that enveloped the temple was truly remarkable, making it a perfect refuge for those seeking a peaceful escape from urban life. The temple's ability to create such a tranquil environment in the midst of a busy city is a testament to its significance. It's a place where one can find solace, reflect, and connect with the divine without any external distractions. I highly recommend this unique temple to anyone looking for a spiritual and serene experience right in the center of the city.

Vadakkumnathan Temple is an awe-inspiring testament to Kerala's architectural heritage and spiritual significance. Having visited this temple multiple times, I've been consistently enchanted by its timeless beauty. The meticulous maintenance, lush lawns, and verdant trees enhance the temple's tranquility. If you find yourself near Thrissur, a visit to this temple is a must for a serene and peaceful experience. The temple's architectural marvel showcases Kerala's distinctive style, featuring monumental towers on all four sides and a graceful kuttambalam. Vadakkumnathan Temple is most renowned for the grandeur of the "Thrissur Pooram Festival," an annual celebration held in September. This festival is a mesmerizing blend of caparisoned elephants, colorful parasols, and rhythmic percussion music, uniting spirituality and culture in an unforgettable spectacle. You can conveniently reach the temple on foot from Thrissur Railway Station (1.5 km) or Thrissur KSRTC bus stand (1 km). The Thrissur Pooram Festival is a vibrant and grand tribute to Lord Vadakkunnathan, an event that encapsulates the rich cultural and religious essence of Kerala. It's no wonder that Thrissur Pooram is celebrated as one of India's largest and most famous temple festivals.
