Not very well maintained but nice for kids and also for senior citizens to walk and jogging for others. In the center of the park there is a big fountain. You can see statues of characters from sonar kella movie. There is small playground also for playing football. The greenary and view is good.
Satyajit Ray Trail Sonar Kella Udyan- New Town, Kolkata The park has ceramic murals on the pillars of the gate and both its sides on the outer walls, based on Ray's sketches in various adventures of the sleuth. Inside, following the trail of paver blocks one is led to a fountain, 24m in diameter. On the circular wall surrounding the fountain are more ceramic tiles with sketches. One is on Lalmohan Ganguli. A brief account on the tiles introduces the writer and then highlights his weapons (khukri, boomerang and smoke bomb, naming the books in which they feature) and his green ambassador car. Another is on Feluda's roots -- parental, educational and residential. But the showpieces are the two camels on which Feluda, Jatayu and Topshe had set off to catch a train.
A beautiful well maintained park with lots of sitting and walking areas. An ideal spot for morning walkers and evening addas. There's a massive fountain in the central area of the park. It was named Sonar Kella Udyan, to commemorate the 50th year of Feluda's first book appearance. There's also a cycle track and a toilet inside the park.
Visited Sonar Kella park located in Newtown which is so beautiful maintained and has been carried out so beautifully to keep intact the memories of feluda from our childhood memories and scene depicting the scene where Jatayu is seen on the camel back in search for the train with feluda and topse. The ambience is top notch with full of peace and tranquility the children playing football with friends.

The fountain is the major attraction of the park. It has free entry and the time for which it remains open is 5a.m. to 8p.m. The park is good for a nice walk at any time of the day (mostly winter). It has chairs for sitting.
