Sompura Lake - Pond in Bengaluru - Bengaluru Urban, India

This place is a quiet and peaceful. The lake is surrounded by greenery and it has clean water. Great place for a morning walk.

Sompura lake is essentially a forest Lake and is gaurded by staff from the forest department. There is a main entrance where the gaurd is posted and there is also a side entrance through a break in the fence. This is a desolated lake and only people you find are those forest gaurds. However there are grazing cows, a variety of butterflies and dragonflies, birds like Purple Heron, Indian white eye, Munia's, egrets, Little Grebes, Eurasian Coots etc to give you company. Just outside the lake spotted a peacock and a Francolin! A good spot for bird photographers but not great place for a family visit as the place resembles more of a forest ..

The road that maps recommend is wrong and will take into a private farm. The actual gate is on the opposite site and I was able to enter taking permission of the police that was on watch that day. Very narrow and dense path and should be careful of dogs and small snakes

It's just behind the graveyard. Nothing much to see. Just a little pond
