Place where Ramana Maharshi stayed for more than 10 years and meditated.Serene calm place . A cave which has been converted to an ashram with some masonry work. A small Trek of 1.6 km from Ramanashram down the hill through Annamalai Reserve forest will take to Skandashram or virupaksha cave.

Blessed walking for 30 - 45 minutes, please plan to start climbing as early as possible to avoid high temperature in the noon.

Very calm place. Bhagavan Ramana maharishi stayed here with his mother. After his mother's mukthi he went down to hill (ramana ashram) for convenience of his devotees. This is very suitable place for meditation. And almost holy water from arunachala hill is also available here through pipe line in front of the ashram. Opening time is 8.30am to 12.00am and 2.00pm to 4.30pm

Pranams to skanda(a mason from neighbouring town)who almost single handedly paved the path to this ashram on Arunachala where Ramana maharshi meditated for many years. The ashram was called skandashram by Ramana in memory of this worker. Skandashram is my fav place for meditation in tiruvannamalai.

When i got into there I don't have no cue. I just walked around Ramana ashram then i found way going up suddenly I decided to fellow the way. I see along the way and cave very peaceful. I believe god really blessed me.

This is the place Shri Ramana Maharishi meditated before moving to the current ashram. You have to climb the hill about 1 KM. Plan to go with good climbing shoe or barefoot, initial 250 mts track is little dirty after that it is well maintained. Carry water bottle. Lots of monkeys but they do not bother humans generally. There is a view point about 100 mts from the ashram and don't forget to visit and view the fantastic view of Arunachaleswarar temple and the town. It took about an hr for us and it is worthy especially if you love trekking.

Very Peaceful & Serene Atmosphere & Surroundings.Afyer some difficult trekking this place is heaven on earth.As you enter the Cave, you feel the Vibrations. Did not ffeel like coming out of the Caves.Such an Atmosphere, One has to bbe there to Experience.Mere description & few catchy phrases can not substitute this Bliss Om Namo Bhagawathe Ramanaya
